Snoop Remembers Final Interaction With Tupac

Though Snoop Lion (then Snoop Dogg) and Tupac were known to be good friends, it turns out that Snoop's final time speaking to his friend was a less-than-friendly conversation.

"Last time I saw him, he was laying in the bed," recalled Snoop somberly in an interview with Sway Calloway. "Holding onto his last breath. I had seen him before that. We had just left New York. I had gotten off the radio station with Angie Martinez. That's when me and him clashed, because she asked me on the air, 'How do you feel about Puffy and Biggie?' And I said what I felt. 'They my homeboys. I love 'em.'"

After Tupac perceived that Snoop had betrayed him by siding with Puffy and the Notorious B.I.G., with whom Tupac was beefing, Snoop's interactions with Pac completely changed. "When I got back to the hotel, it was a whole 'nother atmosphere, like he sent his homeboy to get the bud from me as opposed to him coming to get it from me. ...So I felt funny... When I got on the plane to go to LA the next day, Suge didn't let none of my security ride with me. I had to ride on the plane with him, his homies, and Pac. And it was the most uncomfortable ride I had in my life, because my nigga didn't say nothin' to me the whole ride. That's a five-hour flight on a private plane."

At one point, Snoop actually feared for his life on the flight. "I walk up to him, maybe three hours into the flight, sit next to him like, 'Yo goin' to Vegas, cuz?' He turns [away from me], starts talkin' to somebody else. I'm like, alright, go in the back, put the blanket on my head, knife in my hand, fork in my hand, and just sleep the rest of the ride, because I feel like they finna try to do something."

"When we walk out...I'm like, 'Cuz, you goin' to Vegas?' He do me like [dismissive gesture]. He went his way, I went my way. Next time I get a call, niggas like, 'Turn on the news! Turn on the news!'"

Snoop's interview did have some positive moments, as the rapper discussed his gun buyback program, a partnership with MTV that focuses on purchasing guns to get them off of the street. "The movement is for us to buy guns off of the street so that we can rid these communities of all this gun violence. We feel like... it's just too much unnecessary violence going on. In Connecticut, it really touched my heart with those kids, man. It really touched me, man. I felt like I had to say something. I felt like, as a rapper, I've been given so much power and so much ability to control people's minds and control people's feelings. Why not put some positivity in they mind and walk away with that?"

What did he expect? He's kissing puff and bigs ass on the radio and expects to get a junior g man badge?

As much as I love 2Pac's music, he was such a negative force of energy towards the end of his life. Snoop had just got aquitted of murder and wssn't trying to get caught up in any trouble, especially when B.I.G. had nothing to say untowards to 'Pac.
It would have been interesting to see how how Death Row era Snoop + Dogg Pound would have handled this musically if 'Pac + Tha Outlawz turned on them, back then NO ONE was fucking with them. All they're songs until 1997 were untouchable. I guess the way Snoop explained the last time he saw 'Pac says a lot about why he kept a distance somewhat from everything after he died.

Well at least his consistent. I'm sure people are too lazy to Google it and so they always ask Snoop the same questions. But every story has been consistent, so my only conclusion is that 'Pac died at the height of his rage and maybe that's the way it was suppose to happen. Someone who knew nothing about 'Pac's death wanted me to assure them that he died at peace with Dr. Dre, and I had to break it to them that he died even hating Snoop, who was his best friend in the industry. It's sad, but in his last months 'Pac was on the fast track to his untimely death. I have no doubts that time would have healed everything, and Snoop and 'Pac would have had a track by the end of the year. But maybe it was meant to go down the way it did, with 'Pac isolating everyone from his life.

Well, i would be pissed too if one of my best friends went and told the world he was cool with my enemies....
especially if i had just stood by his side and supported him through a murder trial

I dont think Pac was wrong to be mad at Snoop at all....its just a shame it was never resolved

Both played it off like they were best friend before and during the Death Row run. I think at the end though, 'Pac's rage was just out of control that he wasn't thinking right. 'Pac was one some other level shit and he was acting crazy like he'd smoke too much strong weed. Weed can make you go one of two ways, one way is to be really relaxed and chill like Snoop, the other is to suffer through paranoia. 'Pac had some really bad paranoia. It's sad that the greatest rapper ever story ended the way it did.

i think it had nothing to do with the weed & more about 2pac getting shot in N.Y. . 2pac never trusted anybody after he got shot in New York . I respect Snoop for being honest. Everybody lies and makes it seem like they were Pac's favorite person at his time of death. Like Nas with that ridiculous story about him approaching Pac ready to fight and Pac saying "nah were brothers...come with me to Vegas". Or Wyclef who's supposedly had pics with him and Pac that he's never bothered to mention or release for 17 years.

Positive or not, Snoop still shouldn't have said that on the radio.  He could've said that he personally didn't have problems with them but that he was down with Pac and would side with him.  That could've gotten the same point across without sounding like he wasn't still cool with Pac or at least not flat-out in disagreement with him.  You know Pac would side with Snoop if Snoop got into anything.

But like others have said, Snoop's side has at least been consistent, and I think the first time he told the story, he did admit that he figured Pac felt betrayed by what he said on the radio and at least understood why Pac acted the way he did.
