The Highest Selling Individual West-Coast Rap Song?
« on: November 13, 2013, 09:46:21 PM »
Does anyone here know which West Coast rap single has sold the most copies? I'm curious which song or songs might be owned by the most humans on the planet.

My guess is that for the west, it is probably Tupac's "Changes" or "California Love." For the east, I'd guess it is Biggie's "One More Chance" (Remix) or "Big Poppa," though it might be some more recent wack shit. Are there figures available?

I'm sure someone's going to pull up some numbers but if I were to guess I'd say either Coolio's Gangsta's Paradise or MC Hammer's U Can't Touch This.

I would venture to say those are pretty good guesses. I don't think it's anything by Tupac.

yeah i thought the same and my first instinct was that some BEP song would be among the best selling west coast songs, so I checked

Tonight's The Night (BEP) - 8x platinum

There's a whole lot of little girls out there buying records like that, nigga. We need a new database for songs purchased by real niggas. Eazy E, Pac, Quik, Ice Cube, and WC gonna be at the top of THAT list.

The highest selling West Coast rap song is Gangsta's Paradise. It sold 5.9 million copies worldwide. Diddy hold the record for overall best selling rap son with I'll Be Missing You which sold 7.2 million copies.

Doubt it. Real niggas usually don't pay for shit. They jack bootlegs for free and complain about why they aren't classic.

Besides, for some reason niggers tend to listen to "wack" shit like Lil Wayne, Rick Ross, Gucci Mane, Waka Flocka Flame, 2 Chainz, Trinidad James etc... while suburban white boys are the ones bumping the 2Pacs and NWAs of the world. I think even Jerry Heller once said that there were more white people buying NWA records than black people.

The blood gang embraces Tupac as a member even if YOU dont.

I'm from New York. I did live in Japan for a few years though.
And kind of. It was more along the lines of how people seem to think "real niggas" listen to the likes of 2Pac, DJ Quik, Ice Cube etc... when in reality they kind of don't. And how "real niggas" don't buy records either.

A lot of truth in that.  Seems like people on this board are conditioned to think that everyone who listens to hardcore hip-hop is hardcore themselves.  I know plenty of nerdy white/black/Asian kids who have pretty good taste in music and quite a few people I legit would not fuck with who listen to some corny-ass rap. The way some of you believe someone's musical taste dictates their realness makes me wonder how many of you are stuck in the 90's for real.
