DJ Quik is WITHOUT QUESTION a genius. If Quik is not a genius, then no one in hip hop is a genius. Fuck that shit.

Quik = Genius
Tupac = Genius

Other people come close, but these two are the only true geniuses in rap music in my opinion.

It's funny how there's a thread every month here saying Quik ain't that good. The only reason these threads emerge is that so many people here accurately appraise Quik's talent, and this riles up the haters. Niggas go and listen to Under The Influence, hear a couple wack songs, then get worked up and deny that Quik is a genius...come on now, that's madness. Quik is the greatest producer in the history of hip hop and one of the greatest rappers as well.

I fully support Quik and any of the heavywieght West Coast artist that really made the West Coast what it was.  So I would never argue with someone over Quik's greatness.  If you all love Quik and think he's great and he's a genius then I am all for that.

I'm just saying in my opinion I think he was dope but not legendary.  He ain't on a level of somebody like Daz, for example.   Daz is the greatest rapper/producer combo ever.  But if ya'll love Quik and think he's a genius than I give you props for that.

Shit.. Kurupt said that shit... Daz was straight suicidal in those days... that's why his joints were so fire... his mind was in another world.. he was "On Top of the World!..." as he says at the end of the Dogg Pound record but at the same time shit was moving so fast and in all directions, he was high and low... I mean he was just livin on a level that Quik ain't really seen.

I mean, Quik was barely even on the B-team over at Death Row Records.  How can Quik be on Daz level when they were over there chillin on the same label and Daz is fucking Royalty and Quik ain't even on the B-team?  Quik was over on the bench somewhere behind the Lady of Rage and Soopafly.

No, I'm saying you can't compare "Ambitionz of a Ridah" to "Hand In Hand"  8)

It's not about songs, it's about Daz holding down Death Row when the label was crumbling.  He was the last man standing atop a crumbled empire in 1998 when he released Revenge Retaliation and Get Back.  There he was with the whole world tuned into Master P and No Limit Records, the lone man out West holding shit down still making gangsta shit at the same fuck quality that Death Row was making it in their prime.

There was Daz in the Middle of the East West Beef, knockin over buildings and shit in "New York, New York".

Me and my homies in jr. high were walking around throwin' up the DPG symbol when we'd pass by each others classes.  We sure as hell weren't hollerin out Quik's name.  We were sittin up on Saturday mornings in the Fall of 1995, watchin Kurupt and Daz give interviews for the new Dogg Food album set to take flight, after the label had just gotten dropped by Time Warner in the midst of a firestorm.

What's the hardest shit Quik has ever made?   Daz made the hardest West Coast hip-hop that's ever been made and nobody can fuck with that.  His beats go harder than any beats that have ever been made out West.

...there's some evidence...  8)

daz has never had a solo single as succesful as born in raised in compton or just like compton. i might be wrong about that though but those songs and the albums they came from were HUGEfor westcoast rap before daz even moved from Oklahoma.

who in the fuck would shout "dj quik!" to each other in passing lmfao?

It's like listen carrefully The Chronic or Doggystyle after bumpin all the greatest songs made by Funkadelic or Parliament. Oh, if you use to listen jazz music, of course it seems that something missin in hip-hop. But, what Dre did with P-Funk music or what DJ Quik did with his funky style was dope and sounded more polished and worked than other hip-hop sound. That's music ;) but I can agree wit you, hip-hop can't be as the same level as the sound of talents like Jimi Hendrix, Miles Davis, Benny Goodman, P-Funk... However, some of westcoast classics are not far away...
The spot got shook, it was hell below | Is that Futureshock ?? | Hell, no, it's Death Row !

this may will offend most quik fans  (and i´m one)

but i dont think that quik ist that much of a genius,

the thing is, hip hop is a very simple art (prdocuing, ivolves no really instruments etc)

quik may be a dope RAPprdocuer, but as a musician he is a 5/10

if you listen to REAL music, u will know what i mean, and even in hip hop there are people who maybe are morge gifted when it comes to beats and instruments etc like ryan leslie or raphaeld saadiq..

nowdays just because u can play a little instrument, a few accords on a piano/guitar doestn make u a genius,
most qui fans are so impressed by the quik grooves, yeah for a hiphop artits, pretty mellew, if you listen to real jazz/blues, nothing special

so he is maybe DJ QUIK  America'z Most Complete (RAP) Artist producer (maybe in the top 5)

what you think..

Everyone has their opinion

But, if you assume that DJ Quik is not a genius, then no geniuses in the West Coast.

im not disputing your shit but elaborate for the people on why dazs artistry is at such a higher caliber then quik so they dont think your just trying to get a rise.

B-Team? Quik was on Profile bondage!! Suge Knight wanted to sign him and 2nd II None to Death Row! This is waaaaay before Dogg Food.

Profile didn't Quik leave...then Suge Knight paid for recording, mixing and all process on "Safe+Sound" and then he paid the promotion!!

That album shake Los Angeles airwaves... 3 singles..Safe+Sound,Dollaz+Sense,Can I Eat It? 92.3 gave highly airplay to Quik.

DJ Quik never was a B-Team on Death Row...because he never was a member.

Quik is just a Death Row CEO friend-gang bang homie...

Why Daz wasn't scaled to mix All Eyez on Me? "Since he's better musician" than Quik...

History tell the truth

Much Love to Daz, i think he is a good musician..but

Man..Daz knockin buildings on a videoclip made him hard? Dude was beaten by Suge Knight.

Oh Well... Daz discussed by phone with Eazy-E in terminal stage of AIDS..such a hard movement!!

DJ Quik was more hard than him..DJ Quik destroyed MC Eiht reputation.

DJ Quik was involved on the brawl where was killed a Rolling 60'S Crip (Daz is from this gang!!) \O/ and Daz was present on El Rey Theather and saw everything

Quik dissed The Source Mag and NY..
DJ Quik once said in PPC song..."So if you're looking in The Source magazine and don't see me
It's cause the fucking East Coast is the enemy"

Then he performed at the muthafucking SOURCE AWARDS in NY!

That man is hard.

You have to admit this

wow, some people took that really personal like i was talking about there father :o ;D

everythink is ok, i got quik in my sig, i´m a fan, 8)

just saying he is not a god alright, not a genius, not amerikas most complete artist (we know in rap you have to make stuff bigger that it is.... )

he IS one of the best hop hop producers, maybe in the top 5

but to be a most complete artist you maybe should play at least one instrument perfect..

he is up there with dre, pharell, saadiq, ryan leslie etc..

i think we can all agree and stop making him a musical genius like michael jackson or somethin
