The Problem With Arsenal (soccer thread, haters, don't read)
« on: March 22, 2003, 07:04:22 AM »
This is lifted partially from an Arsenal fan who is a sports columnist in The New Statesman. He says they rely too much on Vieira, (YES IT IS SPELT LIKE THAT YOU DICKS) and Henry sin't a natural centre forward, though he is a great finisher.

With Bergkamp fading, they have no Shearer-type no nonsense strikers, and Jeffers isn't the answer. What's the future of Arsenal? Pennant is average, as is Alladiere. Jeffers is good, but he's an Henry-type striker. In defence, Toure is pretty good...But Stuart Taylor doesn't impress me. Why did they get rid of Manninger?

They need to sign some good new talent soon, because selling Upson leaves them with no future team core.

Man U, on the other hand, have a sparkling future, as demonstrated versus Deportivo. And with Roy Carroll and Rodrigo, the two best young goalkeepers around they know Barthez can be replaced.

The times they are a changin, says I (Owen). And after such a short period of Gooner dominance.

hardly home grown talent now is it?

they see a 16 year old who's doing well and nick him for a couple of thousand, play him in the reserves for a year and then say he's 'home grown'

and yes I am aware that is what arsenal have done with pennant and alliadiere.

Never surrender

Jeffers is like Henry? Doubt it very much. Plus he Jeffers is a great talent once he gains more experience. (Just look at his goal tally)

Pennant has also got a bright future ahead of him. Looked great when he was playing for Watford.

That's crap Owen...

First of all Roy Carroll and RICARDO (not Rodrigo) are average keepers..Barthez is inconsistent

Arsenal are still an awesome team..they have problems in defence but you can't question their attack...don't overeact here

Plus our reserves aren't exactly amazing...Fletcher looks good, but it's a long, long, hard road to make it.  Both teams have problems.

On the other hand, just got back from the game RUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII

What a striker...the man is god!  32 goals now this season!!! MORE THAN HENRY, and he's played less games.  10 goals in Europe too, 1 more for the record in a season!

TOP OF THE LEAGUE, until tomorrow unless...(COME ON BEZ!!!!)

WHO PUT THE BALL IN THE ARSENAL'S NET
WHO PUT THE BALL IN THE ARSENAL'S NET
HALF OF FUCKING EUROPE

Where did this bile come from? ROFLMAO I say what all the top critics are saying, and you say it's crap? And sorry about mispelling a name, I guess I should commit a Roman suicide now.

Did I question their attack? I think Henry is one of the great strikers of all time. Jeffers is a great player too.

WHAT I SAID, CHILDREN, WAS THIS: Bergkamp is their true centre-forward. But he's in the twilight of his career.

Jeffers is an attacker in Henry's mould (I DID NOT SAY HE WAS AS GOOD OR ANYTHING AS HENRY). He is an aggressive midfielder, promoted to striker due to great talent.

Man U, on the other hand: Carroll (excellent keeper)/Ricardo (good); Brown, Ferdinand, O'Shea, Silvestre (with P. Neville in reserve); then, in midfield, even ignoring the young men Beckham and Butt, and Schols-Chadwick, Djordjic, Fortune, Stewart (with Pugh); Forlan, Nistelrooy

Even that team, without Beckham, Scholes and Butt, who will go on for a long time from now, is EXCELLENT.

I orgasm over the future Villa team: GK questionable (Myhill?); Barry, Delaney, Samuel, Edwards; Hendrie, Hitzlsperger, ?, Moore; Crouch, Vassell

All the top critics?

I don't give a fuck what "all the top critics" are saying - I've been to every home United game this season and a few aways, us matchgoing fans don't have to listen to people like "all the top critics"
Jeffers an attacking midfielder - nope

Carroll is not excellent - He is very poor coming for crosses - A nightmare away at Southampton when Fabian went off injured

Beckham and Butt are not young anymore..they're approaching 30
Chadwick is on loan at Reading and will leave at the end of the season...he has no future at United
Djordic is currently out on loan and he has had many arguments with Fergie over his contract.. he is gone also at the end of the season
Fortune has always and will always be a bit parter..signed more for his work with UNICEF in South Africa!

Myhill is third in line for Villa
I'll have to ask some of my mates back home about Myhill but I am not sure

Peter Crouch?  Are we making practical jokes here?

It was not an outburst but some of you're judgments are way off

Insulting me counts as an outburst. And remember, those top critics go to matches too, funnily enough.

No offence, but you're often wrong and I'm always right. How does that feel? Does that feel like an insult in disguise?

Myhill is first in line of the youth keepers.

Beckham and Butt are 27. Nearly 30, okay. They still have 6 YEARS IN THEM. And I suspect both will go onto 36.

If Djordjic is being chucked, Fergie has been masturbating too much. Carroll is young, he will improve.
Fortune is a good player, if Fergie doesn't see him as talent, he'll go and become a superstar for some other big club.
If Chadwick is being let go, see my comments above.

And Peter Crouch? Bad? Are you visting www.davidicke.com too much or what?

Crouch is recognized-and Fergie has said the same-as one of England's best young talents. Man Utd went after him last season.
So did Arsenal, etc. But Crouch knew he'd get a more regular place at Villa than at the other two.

Villa has a great youth team. One thing to thank Gregorovich for. Though Taylor saved the Hammer form leaving.

If Quinton Fortune will become a SUPERSTAR I will run naked through Baghdad
Roy Carroll is not going to become number 1 for United
Peter Crouch is crap - if he is so good why is Taylor leaving him out so much?

See you in Baghdad, then. It's quite hot during the summer, and you wouldn't want to get cold, so you should come then.
As to whether Carroll or Ricardo will become # 1, is debatable. I suspect you're right that Ricardo will be come #1.
Peter Crouch has a back strain, but he's not on the injury lis.t That's why.

who the fuck are you to say what the problem at arsenal is?
i take it your a yank, go back to watching freaks playing netball, because you obviously know noting about football.

jeffers is a henry type striker?? what the fuck are you talking about? henry is one of if not the fastest players in the world with huge amounts of skill and who can score amazing goals. he also spends most of his time on the left wing (and why is this screen so wide? its pissing me off even more). jeffers on the other hand is meant to be the 'fox in the box' which he is, apart from hes not a fox, hes just shit.

your knowlegde of goalkeepers is also VERY limited. why did we get rid of manninger? god you are a joker. your opinion of roy carrol and the man u youth system also gave me a good laugh, thanks for that, it made me feel less pised off. and who the fuck is rodrigo?? lol, moron.

bergkamp is our ture centre forward! is he? which arsenal supporting critic writing for the 'New Statesman' told you that? tell him from me (Sol) hes wrong.

and your opinion of peter crouch topped it all off. he wasnt even good enough for tottenham for fuck sake, and thats saying something.

so, owen, please dont speak as if you know all there is to know about football. you dont even know whtat the 'double' is. stick to your own sports that only americans have any interest in.

LOL, I love riled up Gooner fans.

I'm half English, you wankstain. Did you daddy beat you as a boy?

I play semi-pro for West Brom. I know more about football, the actual workings and tactis, than you do.

Are you that screaming guy in the stands who beats up opposing supporters? I guess you are, from your ridiculously obscene language.

Oh, and Peter Crouch. If he's so shit, why did Arsenal offer Pompey 2.5m for him, (but he chose Villa instead)?

P.S. I *AM* a goalkeeper, you intellectual midget.

you played semi pro for west brom? so what? do you want a medal?
you know nothing about me and my knowledge of football, so how do you think you know more about football than i do?
i used to play for charlton youth team, but it dont mean anything.
you cannot claim with any credibility after your comments in this thread that you have a high level of knowledge about football.
1)jeffers is similar to henry
2) bergkamp is our true centre forward
3) roy carrol is a good keeper
4) peter crouch is a good player
5) and you asked why did we get rid of manninger (and you claim to be a goalkeeper).

i dont know where you heard about arsenal offering money for crouch (probably in a newspaper where u seem to get all of your "knowledge" from).
wenger dosent rate or like large, clumsy centre forwards such as crouch (selling john hartson as an example). our style of play dosent suite it, ie never crossing a ball in the air, so yet again you are wrong.

so please dont embarrass your self  anymore in this thread with your delusions of knowing about football.
