Kurupt's Music Since Streetlights?
« on: December 28, 2014, 05:42:01 PM »
Just downloaded Kurupt's new Moonrock mixtape and was fairly pleased with it. It's good to hear some new music from Gotii, though I stopped checking for his releases after Streetlights.

Since Kurupt doesn't have his online game together, can anyone here provide a list of all (or some) of the music Kurupt has released since Streetlights? I see tons of random videos from him and Zodiak on Youtube, but it's unclear where these songs were released.

I hope Kurupt stays making headlines in 2015. This year could witness a Young Gotti renaissance and ya do know that.

I really liked Streetlights when it came out (think I was on the hype train after the underrated Blakqout). Kurupt did some really nice music with Terrace Martin that got released prior to Streetlights dropping. I'm not gonna say more lyrical, but you could tell they were concept tracks that were built from the ground up and not just Gotti spitting random shit over generic beats. Shame none of them made the album. Not hating on Streetlights, but Kurupt was mostly gone on there other than the occasional moment of clarity "I don't sell records, coz people don't LIKE me" - Kurupt the antihero is something he should really take further IMO

My fave track that ended up on Streetlights as a remix will always be (the OG version of) Bounce Rock Skate. Quiks verse is one of my favourites of any West artist in recent years and was from a time when unity of OG west artists was at a recent peak.

Nothing since Streetlights dropped has gone into regular rotation so can't help there. Daz however has made plenty of music in comparison that gets play. Will be interesting to see what comes up in this thread  8)

Streetlights was dope as fuck, just brought that album out recently for the first time in like 3-4 years

if he scratched or replaced a few joints that were near the middle of the album it had classic potential

I just downloaded the Money-Bitches-Power mixtape for the first time. Didn't bother to check it out when it was first released. It has a few nice songs on it.

The song "Power" is especially dope - easily one of the best songs from Gotti in the past decade. That beat from Notch is straight fire.

"Streetlights" had some heat, was underrated IMO...not feeling the electronic vibe though that he is going with on alot of recent tracks

Kurupt sounds good on the new-school West Coast beats, in my opinion. He sounded coherent again on the song "Something That U Not," which is a straightforward Mustard-style song.

I'd enjoy a coherent album from Kurupt over beats from DJ Mustard and his associates. Kurupt also sounded good on "I'm Burnt" on Streetlights.

to be honest wit you, if it wasnt for him bein one of the greatest emcees out west in his heyday, wed all be fuckin wit alota them tracks on moonrocks. just the fact that it's not what were lookin for from kurupt got cats feelin weird bout bumpin kurupt songs that sound interchangeable wit tyga or yg.....but they aint that bad, as far as club music goes.

I wouldnt mind an album with a few Mustard beats mixed with mostly Terrace production...

No Mustard!!! Neva!!! FredWreck, Battlecat, even Daz Dillinger, and of course Quik, but BlaQKout was experimental, anyway it's betta than nowadays shit. Hopin for WhiteOut. From newest - maybe Knotch, and whose that cat What310? He made couple of good songs i think on MoonRock.
Read in interview that there was an album on the set "The Next Level" back in 2011. Produced by J. Glaze from NYC. We have All In Time single from there. I think it would be cool project if it ever b released. But it's not goin ta happen. "Queitly" is also prod by him. He also promised a project with Big Duke of Psycho Realm this year.
Also read Tha Chill said about 75-85% complete album with Kurupt. Dunno is it a Kurupt solo or just Chill's Chillafornia compilation. We have :Anytime U Wannit, Liven 4 2a Day (check youtube)

In 2012 was promised Dre producing new Dogg Pound album "Alumni". Nice&Slow from there i guess. and there a couple of videos of Kurupt in the studio previewin new music with [Chicago?] producers, and talkin bout Alumni.
There's also a pic with Fred & Tray Dee in the studio. All We Have Is Wait.

Props on this info. What part of Europe are you from, homie? I'm curious to know how far the fandom of Kurupt Young Gotti extends. Your English is pretty easy to understand, by the way.
