2pac - U Can Be Touched: Some Mysteries about this Song
« on: February 01, 2015, 10:54:23 PM »
Can anyone here explain a few mysteries surrounding U Can Be Touched? As many of us know, it has been rumored that Tha Realest raps Pac verse on the "OG" of the song. Listening to the verse carefully, this seems possible to me, though I'm not entirely convinced. But there's some other facts about this song that raise suspicions:

1. Why is Kadafi's verse not present on the "OG" version?

2. Why does it seem like Kastro's verse is a tribute to the deceased Tupac? ("schooled by the realest of the real niggas to ever breathe")

3. Why is Pac's verse rapped by Napoleon on Still I Rise?

The best answer to these questions might be that the version of U Can Be Touched that we consider the "OG" version is actually a posthumous remix, perhaps recorded for the scrapped Outlawz DR album or even for Still I Rise. If it's a posthumous take, that would explain why Kadafi's verse isn't there. Posthumous recording could also explain why Tha Realest contributed vocals to the song, if that is actually him on it. And if Pac never really rapped a verse on the song in the first place, that would explain why Napoleon raps the verse in the released version.

Has any information emerged to clarify this situation?

Jmix, perhaps you could ask Napoleon what the deal with this song was in your next interview with him?

Like I said, I'm on the fence on the matter. The line "five fingers on the forty-five chrome" sounds like it has a little bit of Realest's southern twang and slightly deeper voice.

the OG with pac is obviously the true original with a diff Napo verse

the outlawz went in after and that's how Kadafi got added on and how Napoleon redid Pac's verse on the OG

playa cards right male, where u been and u can be touched are examples of DAT errors on songs. The realest put vocals on this track, confirmed by producer D harp. anyone who cant accept that fact needs their ears cleaned. lol.

its more common than people think.

I've heard that interview you did with Darryl Harper and never did he told specifically Tha Realest is rapping on "U Can Be Touched" - if he did that verse, it would be his greatest 2Pac impersonation EVER and never did he came close to that level, even tho he tried hard.

If his vocals were featured on that track you could tell, just like they were on that "clean versions" of "Life Goes On" + "Troublesome '98" and people noticed it right away.

If tha realest is that good with his impersonations why did they leave such a huge gap in Play Ya Cards Right retail? At most I think he contributed some doubles/layers here and there along with his obvious voice overs on Troublesome and Life Goes On.

Bar that he wasn't a perfect impersonator.

The reason that Amaru didn't use vocals from Tha Realest on Playa Cards Right is probably the same reason that the Outlawz chose not to release Pac's verse on U Can Be Touched: they ended up deciding that it was fucked up to falsify history and have another man impersonate Pac.

But that doesn't mean they wouldn't have initially toyed with the possibility before rejecting it. It makes sense if U Can Be Touched is a case where they were experimenting with Tha Realest recording a verse that Pac wrote in a notebook or recorded on a damaged DAT. In the end, they didn't feel right releasing it, so they had Napolean record Pac's verse but switch out "father" for "parents."

I don't know how you could even think that The Fakest did that verse, its so easy to tell the difference between a biter and the real thing, no disrespect to you but any TRUE fan of Pac can easily point out the phonies
