 Hollywood is known for cashing in on a successful trend. Right now N.W.A and West Coast Hip Hop history are breaking box office records, and the result appears to be a follow-up to the $60 million making movie Straight Outta Compton.

TMZ reports Snoop Dogg, 2Pac, Warren G, and Tha Dogg Pound are set to be the subjects of an upcoming movie. TDP member Daz Dillinger told the site a motion picture titled Dogg Pound 4 Life is currently in the works.

The film is said to include N.W.A. members Ice Cube and Dr. Dre, but the actors from Straight Outta Compton will not be reprising their roles. However, Dr. Dre’s son Curtis Young is already set to play his father. Cube and Dre are not attached to Dogg Pound 4 Life, but apparently Cube has approved the idea.

Tha Dogg Pound, Snoop Dogg, and 2Pac were all central figures in the rise of Dr. Dre and Suge Knight’s Death Row Records. Knight will be portrayed in Dogg Pound 4 Life, but he is not going to be part of the production of the movie.

Would be a cool movie if it were to come to fruition, but I doubt that it will. The title is not good at all. Dogg Pound 4 Life sounds like a low-budget documentary, not the title of a hit movie. That title would have to be changed if this movie came out.

You can imagine some of the scenes already in a DPG movie:

Meeting Dr. Dre
Working (and fighting) with Tupac
Feud between Daz/Snoop/Kurupt
Death of Nate Dogg

There's enough crazy shit in their lives to make a great movie, that's for sure.

If F. Gary Gray gets behind it, and they focus on Snoop, Pac, Suge, and Dre—then this could be another big movie.  We are all big fans of the Dogg Pound, Daz, Kurupt, Warren, Nate etc. but I just don't think they have close to the commercial appeal that the NWA film did, so naming it Dogg Pound for life wouldn't really work. 

...It would probably be asking to much for Dre to get behind the project as well, but that would be cool to see his son play him in the movie

I think this would be really good if it is done right. The shit that went on in the Deathrow days are just begging to be made into a movie.
I cant see the title sticking though, it will most definitely be changed to something else.

yea thats what i said when daz announced it, if they focused on the rise of death row, it could be just as good as the nwa movie......they should just call it "The Inmates" to keep wit the Death Row team.

If Snoop announced it I'll be more confident but Daz?

It'll be a good movie if it's done right but I'm not sure if I could trust Daz for quality control.

But seeing that SOC doubled its production cost first weekend, I wouldn't rule it out....

The problem with the idea of making a Dogg Pound movie is that Daz and Kurupt simply are not famous enough to be the subjects of a biographical movie.

A movie focused entirely on Snoop, detailing his relationships with Dre and Pac - while Daz and Kurupt play minor roles (comparable to Ren/Yella in SOC) - now that has more commercial plausibility. A Snoop movie could also have a good, simple title: Doggystyle.

Im pretty sure the movie is not going to focus on daz and kurupt, but the dogg pound clique as a whole, with snoop, warren g, nate dogg, and the rest of the dpg's, and everything and anything that went on at deathrow, so including dr dre 2pac and other deathrow artists.

I agree that the name dpg 4 life is not a good movie title.
"Stranded on deathrow" or "welcome to deathrow" sounds better , even though the latter has already been used for a documentary about the label

if it's gonna be done, it'll be another low budget flick never to be released ala Make It Rain, or Gangsta Shit.

No big movie studio will ever fund a movie focused on Daz & Kurupt, Daz is delusional and talking out of his ass, as usual. I'm surprise people are still taking him seriously when he announces upcoming projects.

As for a flick centered on Death Row, that could happen but just look at how they struggled to get the NWA movie done with a decent budget, I can't see it green lighted easily with all the conflicting parties involved (Dre, Suge, Afeni, Daz (lol)).
