Actually his individual accomplishment definitely helped that team
reach a greater level. That team consisted of Luke Walton Smush Parker and Kwame Brown featured in starting roles... D league level team that was able to be competitive in the west and even took Nash's much better roster to 7 games. What Kobe accomplished that season was incredible and he was the MVP by definition. Unfortunately, post rape trial, kobes brand was never able to take off the way Jordans brand did .. And we all know the MVP award is nothing more than a popularity contest.. So that's that
An even bigger injustice tho was the Chris Paul to lakers deal being vetoed due to "basketball reasons" (illegal bullshit)... The fucked Kobes exit out the NBA and did us extremely dirty from 2012 to now....Kobe perhaps woulda got to 7, surpassing Jordan, and cementing his legacy as GOAT. If it was for MJ, stern woulda let that deal through.

Because he was injured for a good portion of the season .. But beyond that, he was the best player in the league from 05 to 13
