DJ Quik vs Madlib

Whatsup Dubcc-fam!

Me and my homie always do this type of producer battles. We've covered 9th wonder, Alchemist, Bink!, DJ Premier etc. We pick our 10 favorite beats from a producer and just have a good night!  8)

Now I've chosen my all time favorite DJ Quik, he picked Madlib. First of all, who do you guys think is best?

Second: What beats should I use for my DJ Quik top 10. It's about the beat, not the track!

Third: I have the Trauma instrumentals and a few others, anybody of you guys have some Quik instrumentals? Or an idea how I can get those?

Peace y'all! 8)

All Love and Respect to Madlib ..

They got different styles..Madlib is about hard samples, chop it up and crate diggin.

DJ Quik is about structure, live instrumentation, improvisation.

Two genius..but i prefer DJ Quik style.

Madlib have various classics beats ( Freddie Gibbs,Quasimoto,Talib Kweli, Kanye etc..)

But none of them will be top a Quik instrumental like Safe+Sound for example.

It's difficult to compare the two as Madlib got his break a little later, so even if his beats may sound on point now, he's at advantage because he arrived later in the game. This isn't to say I prefer Madlib to Quik as I have all of Quik's albums upto 'Trauma'.

I prefer DJ Quik mainly because he's one of my favourites, and also because I haven't heard too much Madlib in comparison.

Some of my top Quik beats:

Let You Havit
No Doubt
Quik's Groove (Let Me Be The One)
Born And Raised in Compton
So Compton
Ohh!
Luv Of My Life
Bring The Funk
Pet Sematary
Sucka Free

Madlib has some sick beats too, and I plan to hear more of his shit eventually.  Obviously his album with MF DOOM, 'Madvillainy' is held in high regard, and he's got some nice beats on Volumes 1-2 of his Beat Knoducta series, namely 'The Payback', 'Pyramids' and 'Toe Fat' to name a few.  It's worth checking the whole of that album out if you have the time.
