Man, everyone talks about Daz diluting his catalog.

Looks like Butch is selling verses to anyone who can scrape together a few hundred dollars.  Never heard of the majority of these people.  Good on him for getting his money, but also sad his hooks are on all these terrible songs.

Nah, you're missing my point.  Why does everyone criticize Daz when he releases stuff with unknown artists,or releases a bunch of random songs but when Butch does it, he gets props for working with underground acts.  My point being it's a double standard.

I do agree that there should be some quality control at least.  A couple of these songs are just awful.  Horribly mixed, off beat, etc.  It does hurt one's legacy a bit to be on songs like that, be it underground artist or not.

Daz is known and independant, Butch Cassidy is local and underground

How can you compare Butchy who is just a hookmaster from Long Beach with Daz who releases album after album?

That’s fair. I guess I always viewed Butch as more than just a local low budget underground rapper doing hooks. He was on some pretty big songs back in the day. Perhaps I have too high of an opinion of him in that regard.

Even though he records more often with underground artists these days, he is still one of the best singers alongside LV and Bo Roc in my opinion. Still has that westcoast vibe and he can drop dope ass hook on some bigger projects like Xzibit's last album or DPG or Snoop's project, Eastsidaz etc.  Unfortunately, many of his outstanding songs are still unreleased, he has songs recorded with Warren, Snoop, Nate Dogg, Dr. Dre, Dae One, Mac Lucci, Bad Azz, Kurupt, and more and five unreleased albums at least.

A lot of people in the music industry have been on major hits and are really not well known later on. Think about how big a song "I got 5 on it" was. Barely anyone (even those who grew up with it) would recognize the names Yukmouth and Numbskull.

I can't blame rappers for "selling out" these days, if that is even what you call it. Butch needs to make a living and singing is his craft/skill. It really isn't much different than someone who is a plumber or electrician. Gotta take the job that pays the bills.

There can't be a whole lot of money in music these days aside from touring. Nobody really buys albums anymore and most make jack shit off streaming. So I think the money is made in selling verses and concerts. Don't think butch cassidy is really doing concerts since he doesn't have any well known solo songs. All he has left is selling his hooks.
