I miss those late 90s / early 2000s.

So many amazing albums from Dre, Snoop and the whole DPG click. Collabs with Eastsidaz, Warren G, Kurupt, Daz, Xzibit, Nate, Butch Cassidy etc.

You keep bringing up Ice Cube.  Not sure why?  His post didn’t mention him.

Anyways, I get what he was trying to say.  And since you keep comparing Snoops new music with Dre to what Cube has put out. - there’s no chance in hell people would be loving Dre’s production if it sounded like Cubes first two singles.  They are good, but Dre made those type of beats 25-30 years ago.  And a better version of them.

So I’m glad he’s creating different shit and making new music that doesn’t sound like that era back then.  I’m in my 40’s and don’t need to hear 50 year olds making worse versions of what they made in the 90’s.  I’ll listen to the old shit if I’m in the mood for that now.  The new snippets sound dope to me and I’m looking forward to hearing more of the album.  I think it will be great, and it’s going to be well received from people outside of this board.

but foreal tho, i’m not sure why you’re acting so baffled here.. the guy said “why are people expecting teenager music?” when nobody even said that. we just want a sound that is true to dre… which is why i brought up cube. because cube is making music that is true to his sound and it’s far from “teenager music” …. so these things are being conflated for no apparent reason. it doesn’t have to sound like music from 94.. it can be an updated sound while still maintaining the authentic west coast staple vibes.

do you think if rolling stones dropped an album today it would stay true to the rolling stones sound? or would it incorporate elements of hip-hop and experimental sounding music that has no connection to what they released in their prime?
