"The first album was Doggystyle, this time we decided to FLIP it"
Meaning we're doing the opposite lmao. Dre said it numerous times it's gonna be nothing like their previous works, so there was no lies in the promo campaign

Definitely looks like it is going the opposite of a classic LOL ….

I don’t buy Body Count cause I don’t like metal but still like Ice-T who markets body count as a metal group… this album should of been marketed the same as Snoop’s gospel or reggae albums… nobody wanted a Snoop Swift & Andre Spears pop album

End of the day we are ALL here on a WEST COAST hip hop forum talking about 2 icons of the WEST COAST!

If anyone truly believes these last releases are Dre quality & the sound is evolved into something better than we’ve ever heard… including Compton… then you only playing yourself & maybe it’s time to go sign up on Taylor Swift or Beyoncé forums as you’ve outgrown WEST COAST HIP HOP!

AND I’m a still wait for the album to drop before I make my final decision on it but so far these singles are questionable … if the rest of the album is dope then I’ll gladly come back here & humble myself!

Bro no matter how trash Outta da blue is, it isn't a pop record in any way
Gorgeous isn't any more pop tha Snoop/Pharrell records. Just cause it's mediocre and has a female on the hook doesn't make it a pop records
That Sting song may sound like some garbage too but it's more like rock influenced, or at least pop rock, so it's still not pop.

Just because something is trash and doesn't sound like g funk doesn't automatically make it Taylor Swift-style music lol

No doubt. Dre standards ain't been the same since 2010, we really shouldn't be surprised at this point
But let's also not forget that Dre is a 60 yo man, it makes sense that his music doesn't hit like it did when he was in his 30's and 40's

In my opinion, the Sting song is the best single so far. The sample is catchy, the Snoop singing part too. Production is good. Sure, it's not what you would expect of a Snoop and Dre album, but we should accept that the old times are over. For me:

1. Another part of me
2. Gorgeous (Growing on me, I think it will fit the album context very well)
3. Outta da blue (I tried to like it, but still very bad in my opinion. Pure chaos, sounds nothing like a Dre production)

It's easier to like it when you accept that this won't be Doggystyle 2. But still waiting for a real banger..

dres standards have dropped since the release of i need a doctor and (90 percent of) compton.

these new songs at least have a certain groove to them and arent too chaotic.

outta da blue though has some horrible sounds to it; but i appreciate it from an artistic and social point of view because it samples (even the bassline) an unknown song of a group of mentally disabled people.

if taylor swift dropped the bomb (in the sense of keep their heads ringing) i will enjoy that.

i dont care where music is from or who made it or if it is labelled pop or not; it is hot it is hot.

Snoop Dogg, Sting, and Dr. Dre Reinvent ‘Message in a Bottle’

Snoop's new Dre-produced single, "Another Part of Me," features vocals from Sting and a beat that draws from the Police classic
November 29, 2024

NEW YORK, NEW YORK - DECEMBER 31: Sting and Snoop Dogg on New Year's Eve in Times Square on December 31, 2018 in New York City.
Snoop Dogg and Sting team up on Snoop's new single, "Another Part of Me"

Snoop Dogg‘s new single from his upcoming Dr. Dre-produced album Missionary takes major inspiration from the Police‘s 1979 single “Message in A Bottle,” using a sampled or replayed version of Andy Summers’ guitar line and part of the melody — as well as fresh vocals from former Police frontman Sting.

“Me and Snoop made a recording of ‘Message In A Bottle’, which he’s called something else,” Sting recently told BBC Radio 2. “I played the guitar and I sang on it, but Snoop also sings on this, which is quite a revelation to me.” Sting added that he found Snoop to be “a very nice man.”

Snoop’s confident singing is just as prominent as his rapping on the track (produced by Dre and the ICU), and Sting fits seamlessly alongside him, adopting some of Snoop’s flow into his own part. At one point, the two vocalists even nail a harmony together.

“We hung out and we chilled,” Snoop recently said of his time with Sting. “Like a child that’s infatuated with somebody as a singer, and you get a chance to meet them and they give you everything you expected. That’s what happens with me all the time: I meet people I’ve always wanted to meet and they’re everything I wanted them to be.”

Missionary will drop Dec. 13, a date that also marks the 30th anniversary of Snoop Dogg’s Dre-produced debut, Doggystyle. “We were kids at that time,” Dre said in August. “Snoop may have been like 18 or 19 years old, and I’m, I think, I’m six years older than him… This one is gonna show a different level of maturity with his lyrics and with my music.”
