Really anything after 2008 or so has been really underwhelming. Compton had a few beats that were really good but alot of mediocrity. Especially post Compton. Really underwhelming stuff from Dre. I guess Dres new sound is supposed to be like 1920s horns and trumpets that would go well to the soundtrack of Great Gatsby.

camaro kambon was the main keyboardist for the album.. storch was secondary … this is facts, not my opinion homie

mel-man did wayyyyy more than storch, it’s not even close

storch was essentially a session played who was guided by dre

the only thing he came up wit on his own was the piano riff for still dre

Scott Storch proved how much he is capable of in his career.
Camara Kambon couldnt. (I love him by the way) So i believe scott storch did more than you thought for the songs he is credited as only "keyboardist".

Yeah i know the difference between being an instrumentalist, beatmaker and producer.

But without Camara Kambon, Scott Storch and Mel Man 2001 wouldnt have the same impact.

Storch solo beats weren't as great as the ones he was involved with Dre ..

Batson/Parker era was basically Storch/Elizondo era on steroids. Some of the best Dre beats of all time came out around that time. Their sound was like 2001 brought to another level. Shit Dre did on The Big Bang and TBCT still sounds incredible, and Relapse is the Em's best produced album.

Exactly, you only have to listen to Mel-Man's non-2001 tracks around that era to see how much he did on 2001.For me, he came up with the sound and Dre perfected it and made it what it was.

Denaun Porter was the next in line for the 'Dre Sound'. Tracks he intended for Detox like Pharoahe Monch's 'When The Gun Draws' & Busta's 'Decision' gave a glimpse into what a post Mel-Man Dre record would have sounded like.

If you really want to capture that sound minus Mel-Man - think about people who didn't get paid when the album first came out....

Stu-B-Doo (Uncredited Producer), Chris The Glove Taylor (Did Xxplosive), Colin Wolfe (Uncredited producer/musician), Drauma (Stocks Mcguire - Ghost Wrote on 2001), Bud'da (Has a Platinum Plaque from 2001, but where's his name in the credits?), and so on and so forth.




The whole credit of the organization of things just falling into place for 2001 - look no further than Jimmy Iovine, Dr. Dre, and Dre's team. But as far as production, its no one's sound really apart from Dr. Dre. Not that Storch and others may need more credit, but the production is all Dr. Dre. Now onto Missionary, the snippets...are strange. I don't really know what to think of them.

- The Seige Monstrocity era - (Track 2 on Dr. Dre Compilation 18 Track Album - Don't Fuck The Party Up)

- The Trevor Lawrence, Mark Batson, Dawaun Parker, Mike Elizondo era - (Think Relapse with Dr. Dre mixing for every track if even not production and that Relapse came from the equivalent of a Detox Beat Tape)

- The DJ Khalil Era - Stuff we thought would end up making Detox but didn't

I can name more and more only produced by himself. He dominated 3 or 4 years of hip hop in first decade of millenium. He was way more famous and "wanted" than dr. Dre or any other producer in music industry for a while. However he owes it to dr.dre for teaching him how to produce and being a producer.
