wrong … streaming numbers are included in album sales nowadays.

the big artists are still doing big numbers
I don't believe one album stream equals one sale though.  It's a misconstrued way of detailing how many people actually streamed/DL'd the project.

I imagine Dre goes into hibernation regardless and may not come back for a long time, if ever. I don't think there's anything he can really do at this point outside of discovering a new monster artist to sell a ton of records in 2024. Nature of the beast. Been a minute since he's worked on anything Kendrick related, too.

60 doesn’t mean dead .. he could easily keep working if the albums reception breathed life into him

he won’t retire because he will make it a mission to go out wit a bang .. once he has time to sit back n reflect

With Snoop Dogg at the forefront of all mainstream platforms, it could have achieved better first-week numbers for sure.

I wonder how many vinyl records they pressed (there are a lot of different colors available) and how many CDs.

I just read that the 25th anniversary special edition "2001" vinyl sold out in 5 minutes (they made 2001 copies).

My guess is that they don't care much about being number one again. They STILL make a lot of money from their entire catalog. With "Missionary," they're just adding to it and promoting their brand overall.

To go out with a bang he needs to drop this ICU team completely, and it doesn't look like there's a chance of this happenning. The best deal we can hope for is if he'll drop his solo project next year with similar sound to Missionary/GTA tracks.

You really don't get it about the sales tho. It's been said like 5 times before already, but 36k is a good result for a Snoop Dogg album in 2024. Dre ain't dumb and he knows this, he knew (and not just him - everybody knew) there wasn't any chance of it doing big numbers. 36k is the biggest first week for Snoop in 13 years, his previous albums did like 5-10k. That's basically Oxnard numbers and if Oxnard flopping didn't stop Dre, this one won't either.

I mean don't get me wrong, 36k IS BAD for a Aftermath project. But not for a Snoop Dogg project. People just don't care about him as a rapper at this point, he's been ruining his legacy by putting out extremely mediocre or straight up wack projects for 17 years now. He basically killed any interest people had in his music by doing so, and now when he finally dropped a project of a somewhat better quality people are still not that interested in it, because it doesn't work like that. You can't magically erase 17 years of you tarnishing your legacy by dropping a 7/10 album. And that's  what Dre warned him about btw.

I guarantee you, if Dre dropped an album now, it would've done like 100k first week.

It’s not fair to compare this to those snoop albums. This project. Had Interscope behind it so more comparable numbers are Eminem’s recent albums whatever the numbers were for those

Sure, but it's still a Snoop project, and it still did 3-5 times more than his other albums. Interscope was also behind Q's latest album, it didn't help it either.

Dr.Dre alone wouldn't do big numbers either, unless Eminem is involved. Also interscope is probably focused on Kendrick.
Also, releasing a cheap ass video for fire instead of pushing the JellyRoll track as a single is nuts to me

none of those independent self-funded snoop projects matter

this is snoop n dre doing their first album together in 30+ years

arguably the greatest duo in rap history

to sit here and come up for reasons why debuting at number 20 isn’t awful is hilarious bruh

You clearly don't understand how it works, but it's fine. Keep acting like 36k is a bad result for a rapper who's been irrelevant for 15 years whose last albums did 5k
