Unfortunately this album didn't have the replay value of "Compton" to me. It's better than the "The Contract EP", though. But for a Dre/Snoop Reunion album, I excepted more to be honest. It's a solid album, well executed, but nothing groundbreaking. 7/10 at max.

This is a fair and well argued criticism.

I do think that Dre had too much control over the direction of this project and as i've said before has overthought things.
I also think that Snoop's biggest USP is his charisma and it felt that he was restrained. We saw parts of it on Pressure and Thank You where he felt his natural self.
I do think Dre needs to relax and just vibe in the studio, have fun and go with the flow. At the moment, everything seems a bit too calculated and mechanical.
Technically the mixing/engineering though, it's on another level. Other albums, the production sounds so flat.

I personally love the album and is still in heavy rotation

Snoop was not Snoop on this album.  he felt contained just to sound good on the mic.  most of the album was just too structured, seemed like they went in to do a job, and move on.  There had to be something going on behind the scenes for them not to push the Jelly Roll track as a single

very low replay value unfortunately. i don't blame Snoop or Dre per se it's more Dre's stable of producers he's using these days.

i did like Thank You and the one with Jelly Roll but most of it is forgettable - not the sort of production Snoop sounds best on.

the Truice EP is honestly a better Aftermath project and the track with Xzibit sounds nice too.

agree. they didn't need to reinvent the wheel for this but the produciton is just too left-field for Snoop in a bad way. i'm not saying it can't be fresh and something brand new but did anyone ever stop and ask if this was the sound most fitting for Snoop?

Outta Da Blue is one of the worst tracks Dre has attached his name to in his whole career.
