Physical>Streaming.

Streaming does nothing for artists, streaming content doesn't support as much as these companies tell you it does. People need to fight back against streamers.

Had my first listen of this today. Big thanks to Scitt and Doggy! Album is fantastic. CD listened to and getting ready to put the vinyl on with the headphones now. I'll post a more in depth review at some point but a no skip album and 2 for 2 from this team.

that part

enjoy the vinyl .. sounds even better lossless @ 24-bit/48khz

the distributor is whack … we’re switching distributors meaning we have to remove the music distributed through our current distributor.

we’ll probably re-distribute it with a new distributor some time soon..but if you wana get it on any platform before it goes down, now is your chance.

I have bought digital from you guys anyway.

Album Review: Hibernation Shivers | RBX

It’s always refreshing to hear certain MC’s return with a solid album without trying to sound like the flavor of the month. Iconic MC/West Coast Legend RBX returns with a no skips sure shot “Hibernation Shivers“. A signature voice we all first heard and grew to know in the iconic debut releases of “The Chronic” and “Doggystyle“; RBX returns with his signature flow and elite bars as “The Narrator“. Remaining lyrically solid beyond evident in this latest while laced with production from An array of sounds ranging from G-Funk, Soulful to Down South vibes reminiscent of Early Dungeon Family and Suave House. Guest appearances from Ras Kass, The Dogg Pound, MC Eiht, Fat Lip, KXNG Crooked, Butch Cassidy, Krayzie Bone, Project Pat, Spice One and Cold 187um to name a few. A taste of the standout tracks on this release are “Let’s Ride” which provides that feel-good LA Summertime vibe as one that fits perfect for radio consideration (hint hint radio stations) , the BBQ jam or even a “Stepper’s” groove. “Stoner Mac” is definitely one for those that “blaze up” with the soulful chords locked into this ode to fine ganjah. “Hibernation” featuring Ras Kass sets the vibe as the album opener, laced to Jazz Fusion tones and solid bars. “Midnight Drive” featuring MC Eiht and Sccit delivering elite bars and smooth flow throughout. This release demonstrates variety in tone, texture and color on every track. This is another West Coast gem for the win.

Production provided by Siavash The Grouch, C-Dubb, Sccit, Chris “The Glove” Taylor, Cold 187um, Jelly Roll, Siccraised, Smoov-E, Roach Kler

Where is this from? I've been on eBay a fair bit the past few days and this is incredibly similar to the new AI descriptions people are using for albums.

The one thing I want to know and I’m not asking about figures or anything and I know nothing about the industry- but just a yes/no question.

Was it a financially successful album for everyone involved? After everything is there money in all your pockets for the hard work you put in and was RBX supported by the fans? To me it’s up there as one of the best records of the year and I do come back to it again and again. You can play start to finish no skips. Yes a Snoop verse would have been nice as the cherry on top for nostalgia but wasn’t really necessary and hasn’t been for an RBX album. I remember old Bad Azz interviews where he was saying Snoop would only hop on if the money was right lol.

What about a Bad Azz posthumous after the next solo project?

So all these artists that say there's no money in music anymore are full of shit?  Because you all made decent money on this small independent release, and if you guys can do it, these bigger names should easily be able to do it.

Two posts up someone asked if everyone made decent money on the release and he said yes, so have to take him at his word as fact.

Once again knowing nothing about the industry, I'm assuming a lot of the features and production were done for minimal rates with Sccit and Siavash negotiating with the artists and out of genuine respect for RBX which hopefully helped bring cost down. For the bigger names on major record labels - I assume they would want their full feature or production major label rates which I guess would start to cut into profits in a big way. After all my interpretation of the Daz /Benzino beef back in the day was that they tried to give Daz independent rates rather than a major label rate which he didn't appreciate.

Also it's good to see with the RBX album that digital download and production costs for physical copies everybody still made money. The major labels seem to only concentrate on the streams now which as many people have said don't really pay out when you have a million streams and the RBX album hasn't been on streaming for too long. So I can somewhat see major label artists taking a hit and only getting their main revenue from tours/merchandise/sponsorship rather than sales.
