BTW, it's a real LP, not those with 30 minutes that say they are LP. The LP is 1 hour and 2 minutes long. Thanks OG Cube! 🙏🏻

Ice Cube delivers fierce comeback with ‘Ego Maniacs’

The West Coast legend teams up with Killer Mike and Busta Rhymes ahead of anticipated album

Ice Cube marks his return to solo music with “Ego Maniacs,” the second single from his upcoming album Man Down. The track, produced by E-A-Ski, serves as a remix to “It’s My Ego” and features collaborative verses from hip-hop heavyweights Killer Mike and Busta Rhymes. Released as a precursor to his Nov. 22 album, the single demonstrates Cube’s enduring influence in the genre after a six-year solo hiatus. The song was recorded over three sessions at Cube’s personal studio in Los Angeles, with each artist contributing their verses separately due to scheduling conflicts.

Production elements

E-A-Ski’s production maintains the classic G-funk sound while incorporating modern elements. The instrumental features a heavy bass line, layered synthesizers, and crisp drum patterns characteristic of West Coast hip-hop. The track underwent extensive mixing by DJ Pooh, who spent 72 hours perfecting the sound balance between the three distinct vocal styles. The final version includes samples from three classic funk records, all properly cleared through Universal Music Group.

Lyrical breakdown

The song’s verses showcase Cube‘s trademark aggressive delivery and sharp wordplay. His lyrics address industry politics, personal growth and his lasting impact on hip-hop culture. The track runs 4 minutes and 32 seconds, with each artist delivering 16-bar verses and sharing the hook duties. Notable verses reference his journey from N.W.A. to solo success, while Killer Mike and Busta Rhymes contribute verses that complement Cube’s narrative with their distinct styles. The track maintains Cube’s reputation for social commentary while celebrating his legacy.

Cultural impact

As West Coast hip-hop experiences a renaissance in 2024, Cube’s return holds particular significance. His influence spans four decades, from pioneering gangsta rap with N.W.A. to achieving success in film and business ventures. Recent streaming data shows his classic catalog generating over 2 million monthly streams, with younger listeners accounting for 45 percent of the plays. The single’s release coincides with a broader revival of classic hip-hop sounds, with streaming data showing an increase in plays of traditional West Coast rap in the past year.

Album anticipation

Man Down represents Cube’s first solo project since 2018. The album features production from West Coast veterans and new talent, with 15 tracks exploring themes of legacy, power and cultural evolution. Eight of the tracks feature guest appearances from both established and emerging artists. Following his successful 2022 collaboration on SNOOP CUBE 40 $HORT, which sold 500,000 units, expectations for the solo project are high among critics and fans alike.

Industry reception

Early reactions from industry professionals highlight the single’s production quality and Cube’s maintained lyrical sharpness. The track has garnered significant streaming numbers, with over 500,000 plays in its first 24 hours across major platforms. Radio adds have reached 150 stations nationwide, with particularly strong support in West Coast markets. Music critics praise the intergenerational collaboration, noting how it bridges different eras of hip-hop while maintaining authenticity.

Future implications

The success of “Ego Maniacs” sets the stage for Man Down‘s release. Pre-save numbers have already exceeded 100,000 on major streaming platforms. The project’s rollout includes three music videos, scheduled live performances at major festivals and exclusive digital content. Industry projections suggest first-week sales could reach 75,000 units based on current pre-release metrics and streaming performance of the singles.

I'm a mober, I'm a mober, I'm a mober, I'ma mob on you
I'm a mober, I'm a mober, I'm a mober, I'ma mob on you

[Verse 1: Ice Cube]
(Mob) I used to roll with Da Lench Mob
Doin' hip-hop, to the shit pop
My nigga J-Dee, he had to break rocks
Cause in the streets, that's where they lay ops
On the other side of the planet
Got a phonе call, homies in a panic
God damn it, what happened?
Niggas startеd fightin', but then, niggas started yappin'
I went to court out-port
Had to make sure, I didn't have warrants (Damn)
No snitchin' to say the least
Saw the beast, leave my nigga piece by piece
Even though he didn't do it, the police, the DA, the judge all knew it
He still walked off twenty, now he's at home with a cup full of henny, bitch

[Chorus]
I'm a mober, I'm a mober, I'm a mober, I'ma mob on you
I'm a mober, I'm a mober, I'm a mober, I'ma mob on you

I'm a mober, I'm a mober, I'm a mober, I'ma mob on you

[Verse 2: J-Dee]
Now, let me put this in perspective
Twenty-five to life for the murder, four years for the weapon
I fought the case for two years, but it fades
In the county with the Crips, the Bloods, Essays
Moms talkin' shit, baby mommas trippin'
Keep gettin' diced till the meter do some snitchin'
Niggas ain't silent like they say they was
Sold me out for jealousy, and sold me out for drugs
Hit the four-yard, got a post watchin' killers
Baby Long Mac, H.B
Let them niggas know I want some Lench Mob shit
But if it get crackin', I'm riotin' with the Crips
And if it get racial, I'm riotin' with the blacks
And when we politickin' guns, I'ma need facts
The riots, the malays, removals to self-fights
So fucks about going home, nigga, I got life

[Chorus]
I'm a mober, I'm a mober, I'm a mober, I'ma mob on you
I'm a mober, I'm a mober, I'm a mober, I'ma mob on you
I'm a mober, I'm a mober, I'm a mober, I'ma mob on you
I'm a mober, I'm a mober, I'm a mober, I'ma mob on you
I'm a mober, I'm a mober, I'm a mober, I'ma mob on you

I'm a mober, I'm a mober, I'm a mober, I'ma mob on you

3 Lil Piggies

[Verse]
These three little piggies say I ain't cool as Biggie
These motherfucking niggies say my pen game is iffy
This ain't just yelling, nigga, this is storytelling
Are they even seeds up in that watermelon
Just because of melanin, never sold the heroin
Still got the avalanche flow, y'all be burying
Still got the pyroclastic flow, and the calico
Red nigga, pale face, treat me like an alcohol
Bag of ho, like a nigga worth of that stop and go
Mop your ass, then do a show, I call it mop and glow
Got to get my capital, Ice Cube is tactical
Hold a mackеrel, don't have to mack a ho
All I got to do is ask a ho (Ask a ho)
Y'all mathematical, somе say I'm radical, skip the sabbatical
Do you wanna battle though?
Fucking with Geronimo, I ain't playing dominoes
Get goes, adios, nigga, vamanos
Motherfucker, I'm the Coast
Get my locs, get my folks taking totes
Use a hoax
Do you have any hits, or just features?
These creatures spit bullshit from the bleachers
I'm the grim reaper with the Ether
I'm the one that hit you with a slipper
Left you looking like a tweaker
Can you make it come out the speakers?
Bit over thirty years of heaters
Motherfuckers can't beat us
Y'all better join us, anoint us
You have to kick back and take pointers
And stop cutting corners
Don't you try to warn us, 'cause these lyrics are enormous
And I'm the truth, and y'all just performance
You say Cube's got it, that's when I shine
What the fuck you talking bout, bitch, I'm not product
I been making music, nigga, I'ma just abuse it
Are we talking movies, bitch, or are we talking music?

DecadeZ

After years of producing, touring with his undeground group “The Local Celebrities” & building his brand within the California music scene from the Bay Area as far down as Los Angeles it was in 2008 that, DecadeZ (then age 17), by chance met Mugzi & E-40. That chance encounter created a multitude of opportunities in which DecadeZ’s name began to spread even more rapidly than before. As time went on, his relationship grew with both Mugzi & E-40. Being as young as DecadeZ was at the time, it intrigued Mugzi in particular due to the fact that DecadeZ was originally from Bakersfield,CA and had found his way all the way to the bay to network out of his element. This fire inside of DecadeZ made Mugzi & E-40 take him in as one of their own & from there…. the rest has been history.

As long as the beats aren’t of the crunk variety often, Cube should be in good shape
