‘Arrest The President’ Becomes A Top 10 Hit As Trump Returns To The White House

Ice Cube's 2018 single “Arrest the President” debuts inside the top 10 on multiple Billboard charts ...

America voted to return Donald Trump to the White House this past fall, but not everyone is in favor of the president. Ice Cube is one of many stars in the entertainment space who has been a vocal opponent of the Republican politician and businessman, and now he’s earned a new hit on the Billboard charts by making his opinion known—though the current win isn’t a new composition.

“Arrest the President” debuts on several rankings in the United States this week. The tune arrives inside the top 10 on both tallies it reaches, earning Cube another big career hit.

Cube starts “Arrest the President” highest between the two charts it lands on this frame on the Rap Digital Song Sales ranking, which tracks only the top-selling tunes in that one genre. On that list, the rapper starts the possibly-controversial cut at No. 6.

“Arrest the President” nearly matches that performance on another, very similar roster in the U.S. Cube’s single debuts at No. 7 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Digital Song Sales roster. That tally is also focused only on pure purchases, though it includes more than just rap, as its name suggests.

Cube has now collected three top 10 hits on the R&B/Hip-Hop Digital Song Sales list. “Arrest the President” marks his fourth appearance inside that area on the Rap Digital Song Sales chart. The more specific of the two tallies only features 10 spaces these days, so anytime a track arrives, it instantly becomes a top 10 smash, though the ranking used to be longer.

Interestingly, only two tunes debut on the hip-hop-leaning sales charts this week, and both are connected to Trump. Ahead of Cube’s “Arrest the President” comes “Daddy’s Home” by Tom MacDonald and Roseanne Barr—yes, that Roseanne Barr. Their ode to “daddy,” otherwise known as Donald Trump, returning to the Oval Office opens at No. 1 on the two sales lists.

“Arrest the President” may be timely and only a hit in this moment, but the song isn’t actually new. Cube released the track in November 2018 as the lead single from his album Everythang’s Corrupt. While the rapper doesn’t actually name Trump in the tune, it’s clearly aimed at the then-sitting president, based on certain lyrics and a music video filled with clips of the man himself and related events and figures.

Was checking to see if any Mount Westmore leaks were out and saw this on youtube from 2 years ago that made the new Cube Album
