Yeah, these next 6 games are big for a lot of teams because the trade deadline coming up.  Are the Mets in the market to give up some prospects to help their post-season push?

they are not really willing to trade prospects in the minors, but are ready to trade one or more these are currently on the team

Luis Angel Acuna Jr
Brett Baty
Mark Vientos
Ronny Mauricio

of these 4 Vientos could probably bring the best return since he had a breakout last year with 27 HR...he's been terrible this year though with only 6

that's not gonna be enough to get them a piece that can really put them over

btw.. did you see this freaking rookie for the Athletics?  6 hits and 4 homeruns in one game

Carlos Delgado

Infinite congrats, you guys signed Lugo to a 2 year extension

that does take him off the board for us but I think we're looking more at bullpen and CF help than starting pitching right now

Higheyecue, since you are such a big baseball ⚾️ fan and the same age I think you remember how fun it was when we were kids and you first heard about great feats and big names.  One of the big things I remembered hearing like a playground legend around 89’ my first year getting deep into it was:

“Babe Ruth once hit 3 homers in a game”

and in KC we had Bo Jackson then and it was “Bo hit 3 homers in a game once.”

But we thought these guys were superhuman.  To see this little white guy that’s a rookie hit 4 for the A’s along with two more hits 6 for 6 is mind blowing.

Yeah it was bittersweet in KC.  We finally won a series against our nemesis the Cleveland Indians (I still call them the Indians but officially Guardians), and we signed Lugo long term.  And the same day came the news our All-Star starter Bubic is out with injury till possible next season.

We are stuck now with 45 year old Rich Hill as a starter.  Bittersweet day in KC

I was too young to remember this in real time but that home run that Bo Jackson hit in the all-star game in 1989 sends chills to my spine whenever I see highlights of it...the fact that he could play in the NFL as a running back and also be an outfielder with the Royals and excelling at both is crazy...also that MNF run that he had that always get replayed when he hit the end zone and just kept running

Rich Hill...we signed him in that year after the COVID hoax when Jacob DeGrom went down after the All-Star break...he pitched decent enough for us but I was thinking at the time what are we doing with a 40 something year old starter lol

damn it sucks about Bubic...I guess he has a similar injury that Ragans has...you guys have a scrappy team though, you'll find a way to get through it

That was the first year I got deep into it.  What a great year 89’ was, Bash Brothers Canseco and McGuire, and Royals made a run at the A’s with the emergence of Danny Tartubul.  Reds and skinny cokehead (buddy of Strawberry and Gooden) Eric Davis upset the A’s in the World Series.

Was the year Bo Jackson was part of back-to-back homeruns to start the All-Star game.  It was 89 so you were probably 7, you might have been old enough.  I was watching TV when it happened—it was one of those classic Bo Jackson moments I actually got to witness in real time.  My first game I went to was also that year and I still remember we lost 7-1 and Bo had 3 deep fly outs.

In football he played for KC rival the Raiders.

Fun Fact:  the Royals also drafted Deion and Dan Marino but weren’t able to sign them.  Pat Mahomes also got drafted to MLB and owns a small percent of the Royals.

How could you miss 89’ homie?  That was like the best year ever in baseball ⚾️.

(I missed 88’—and arguably the greatest moment in sports history the Kirk Gibson homer against the A’s in the bottom of the 9th.  But I remember everything from 89’.  Just like I missed everything of the Pistons back-to-back but know everything from the Bulls first championship run)

yeah I'm watching the game right now on YT trying to see if I remember any specifics about it

and that was the last year NBC had baseball, they acquired the NBA rights starting with the '90 season and the rest was history with that great Bulls run in the 90's

What was your first big year in MLB, how come you didn’t catch 89’?  So I’m trying to remember, after the A’s—I know the next big thing was the rise of the Atlanta Braves which we had on TBS, Deion Sanders, David Justice.  Did you catch the first year of that?  That was some great baseball.  The four aces:

Glavine
Smoltz
Avery

Later Maddox

I do remember the Braves years...the 1st World Series I truly remember well was the 1991 when the Braves lost in 7 to the Twins...I think Jack Morris and Smoltz were locked in a scoreless duel till the 10th when the Twins walked it off...I'm pretty sure Morris went the full 10 innings...back when starters went more than 6 innings lol

Supposedly everybody loves Bobby Cox, and Royals WS manager Ned Yost idolized Bobby Cox.  But I cried when the Bills lost to the Giants and I also cried when the Braves lost Game 7.  And isn't that the game Smoltz was dealing and Bobby Cox took him out when he was pitching a shut out!!  Smoltz loves Bobby Cox, but he said in a recent interview that he is 100% certain they would have won that game had he stayed in.

He said Cox signaled to the dugout to bring in the reliever before he reached the mound, because Smoltz would have ripped his ass if he said, "we are taking you out!"

btw.. HighEyeCue, I forgot to say to your Rich Hill Mets comment.. who hasn't Rich Hill played for?  Of course he has played for the Mets and the Royals the guy is 45 and played for pretty much every team in the league, smh

..honestly though I'd never heard of him till he came to the Royals.  And they already demoted him after the Braves rocked him a couple nights ago.  The Royals went from having 10 potential starting pitchers to only having 3 legit starters.

ROYALS STARTING PITCHING BEST IN BASEBALL ---- NOW DOWN TO JUST 3 STARTERS!!

1.  Lugo - stud
2.  Wacha - stud
3.  Noah Cameron - stud

4. Ragans - out with injury
5. Bubic - All Star last week, this week out for the season with injury
6.  Lorenzon - out with injury
7.  Brady Singer - traded for Jonathon India before opening day
8.  Kyle Wright - won 21 games in 2022 with the Braves now out with injury
9.  Rich Hill - got blown up by the Braves now deactivated
10.  Alec Marsh - Solid number 5 last year out this entire year with injury
11.  Dallas Keikal - big name pitcher trying to resserect his career in Triple AAA with the Royals

interesting tidbit is that I became a Bills fan ever since spending some time in Western New York when I was little and was also upset when they lost to the Giants before losing 3 more consecutive Super Bowls.

yeah Rich Hill has pitched for about half the teams in baseball lol…it’s crazy what has happened to the Royals staff this year though, but yet you guys are still competing hard. Respect
