Okay it’s one thing to be brave in action.  Like look at Shane McMahon and Mankind going off the top of a cage how many feet high fucking 30 feet or some shit and falling into the damn table.  That’s fuccing nutz.

Okay, so that’s one thing.  But I’m excluding them because it’s in deed but we know and care nothing for their words.

So who are the bravest men in modern history in both word and deed?

#1. Pac
#2. Suge
#3. Rodman
#4. Tyson
#5. Vince McMahon
#6.  Donald Trump

Again there were other athletes like maybe a football player or MMA that may have gone harder than Rodman.  I don’t think anyone went harder on the NBA court.

But then who also had the voice to back it up?  Rodman was all out in words and deed.  So that’s why he makes the list including the others.

Maybe Muhammad Ali is probably on there but I’m not sure he is our era.  Maybe Malcolm X but the race thing has just been so overblown over the last 10 years I’m kind of just weary of anybody on the race narrative even if it may have been legit in those times.

I would say it’s pretty brave of Master P to take Snoop from Suge and Death Row considering how powerful and feared Suge was at the time

Eminem definitely for growing up in a predominantly black neighborhood and being constantly bullied and beat up and didn’t turn racist like a lot of white kids would. Instead he was best friends with proof and delved deep into hip hop to become the greatest rapper of all time

DMX for bringing raw shit back when hip hop was headed towards its flashy bling bling era

Xzibit for making “Fathers Day” and “Sorry I’m Away So Much”. Not many songs about fatherhood in hip hop

RBX for knowingly eating Suges chicken

Yeah you kind of right dawg.. I stopped liking Em for political reasons but definitely part of what made him what he was—was good ol fashion bravery and from someone who has shaken hands with the man the dude was physically strong as in presence as in someone hardened by taking and facing the hard knocks of life head on in his underground days and even after he finally broke thru he was still facing a lot of resistance in the first half of his career.

I think Kim was his muse and as long as he was still being dragged down by her he still had that aura about himself but I think he’s pretty comfortable by now and lost some traction

Suge wasn’t so brave when he ran over the dude while trying to run away

I think it was an accident I’m not sure what was up.  Looked to me like he got ambushed and was just trying to get up out of there

There’s a lot of irony in the fact that linking with Dre took him to the top of the industry and top of the world in 96’ and then stalking Dre in 2015 put him in prison for life

You are absolutely right about Kim. Never really thought of that but it makes sense now. And also never knew you shook hands with the GOAT. What a blessing.

Who woulda guessed in 02 we’d switch places 20 years later and I’d be the bigger Em fan

Yeah… I’ll post here the story I was telling Sccit

May 99’ Slim Shady Tour  — Only “My Name Is” was out and it was easy to get front row at the show because everyone hated on him still and said he was Vanilla Ice.  I had to drive an hour and go by myself because none of my friends would go with me.  I was in the front row rapping every lyric so after finishing one of the 6 cuts he performed—probably “Role Model” he dapped me up and shook my hand and leaned in like a half hug and put the mic 🎙️ up yo my mouth since I was rapping all his lyrics like “you know it dawg” and I yelled in the mic “KC Mutherfuckerrrrrr” just cause I couldn’t think of anything else to say in that moment.  I don’t think he thought much of that because then he took the mic back and went back to center stage and continued the show, lol.  His hype man was Royce because him and Proof had beef at the time.  There’s a back story of that show from his bodyguard because you know he has family in St Joe Missouri so his lil bro Nate was spraying us with a water gun during the show and the bodyguard said Kim and Em’s mom Debbie got in a huge fight on the tour bus before the show and that it was Kim instigating and pushing the fight and Em was just trying to tell her to “please stop” and the body guard said the family was every bit just as white trash and dysfunctional as portrayed in songs …. Other notes on the show are that PaceOne opened for him and also Royce and Em did a skit dissing XXL during the show because that issue had just came out where they dissed him.  He finished with “My Name Is” and came back out for an encore of “As the World Turns”.   He only peformed cuts from SSLP.  The DJ was Mixmaster Mic before the show—spectacular.  And Pace Ones set was real underground and hardcore “I declare war” he peformed

Thanks for asking because I had not thought about it in a while, but my memory is coming back to me the more I write, but I think the DJ was the Beastie Boys DJ Mixmaster Mike.  And so the ticket to the show the lineup was listed like this

Eminem - headliner
Beatnuts - supporting act
Mixmaster Mike - opener

Thank God the Beatnuts didn’t show because they announced PaceOne would be in their place and I’d known about PaceOne and the Outsiderz and their history with the Fugees and Eminem because I’d checked the backstory on Em—and that was some real, real hardcore hiphop set he put on was so dope.

I wasn’t expecting anything from the DJ but that was worth the price of admission in itself.  I’d never seen a DJ do his thing like that before, it was so fucking dope the way he was mixing in loops and underground shit and hits and all the little nuggets and scratches — Mixmaster Mike was a one man wrecking crew

That sounds amazing. Wonder if there’s any footage of this show

I just checked, I didn’t see anything but a listing of shows saying it was May 17th, 1999 and a picture he took with Em, Nathan, and his Mom.

While I’m trying to jog my memory and recall everything I can from the show I’ll continue.

I was actively TRYING to NOT like hiphop and NOT like Eminem at that time.  Because girls were even rejecting me at school calling me a wigger and shit like that in that little era after 2pac and before the MMLP blew up.  And I was failing in everything in life at the time, like grades, school, career, college, jobs.  I still caught girls every now and then because I was a senior and in my prime as far physical looks, and money for nice clothes and stuff like that and free time to chase girls, but I wasn’t getting the top girls in school like I did in the 2pac jr high era of the mid-90’s

So when Eminem was angry the whole show and only performed just 6 songs and then the encore of “As the World Turns” I was leaving the show (by myself of course) and trying to tell myself “okay that’s it.  Fucc Eminem, he only did 6 songs really fast and then left and no exclusives or underground tracks”.

I tried listening to Limp Bizkit or even R&B but I could never get into those albums the way I could hiphop.  With hiphop I listened to everything not just the shit on the radio.

So I couldn’t give it up, so anyway of course a few hours later I snapped out of it and went back to being Em’s #1 fan again and shit — but I do remember walking out of the arena to my car trying to talk myself out of being a hiphop head and being a fan of Eminem.

As The Workd Turns is one of those songs he never performs anymore. You’re lucky to have seen that live

what countries in africa did you go to? My neighbor now is from the gambia and he’s honestly one of the nicest people i’ve ever met. His family was involved with the government and they all had to leave before they got killed

Yeah that's true.   He performed in order (from memory)...

"Just Don't Give A Fuck"
"My Fault"
"Brain Damage"
"Bad Meetz Evil" (maybe)
"Role Model"
"My Name Is"

...then called out to encore so he returned and did...

"As the World Turns"

and I can't remember him doing "Bad Meetz Evil".   It would have made sense with Royce being on stage with him and him performing only cuts from SSLP, but I don't remember it, and also don't remember if he peformed "I'm Shady" but it seems there was maybe one extra track I don't remember him peforming

That "Bad Meetz Evil" sound is so vintage 1999 SSLP era and what the emerging underground at that time was doing lyrically was really exciting in those days
