I think several of these songs are older songs after listening to them.  The fact that there are noticeable edits of shout outs to Daz tells me some of these songs were made a while ago.  Wasn't there supposed to be a Kurupt/Battlecat album years ago not on Death Row but Cat lost the files or hard drive crashed or something?  Or am I misremembering?  Wonder if some of these songs were from those sessions.

If you watch the 60 Minutes with Kurupt interview, he mentions that he and BC were working on an album together over a decade ago but it fell apart because "everyone got too busy." He also talks about about why he decided to use Mystic River for this new album: it was the first song they did together when they had first started the original album and they wanted to honor that by including it now that they actually have a chance to do the full project together.

Awesome, thanks for that info.  Makes sense.  So yeah, everyone saying the old Kurupt is back and he sounds hungry again, etc....but you wonder how many of these songs were made a while ago, before his medical issues.

he hasn't released a solo album since 2010 so he's probably recorded more than enough material over those years

I'm just happy he's putting something out there finally and it seems to be pretty dope too

Imagine being disappointed that Kurupt is dropping an album on Death Row Records in 2026 entirely produced by Battlecat with multiple features from Snoop Dogg and also Soopafly and Butch Cassidy.

Looks like lots of features, but Charlie Bereal, Blaqthoven, Jane Handcock, and BJ the Chicago Kid are just hook singers. There's less than one handful of rap features.

It's a short album, but I rather it be dope & concise than have a bunch of filler on here.

yeah I wish we would have an album with Dre, Daz, Quik, Warren G and Battlecat all doing about 3 tracks each, the ‘95 version of Kurupt and guests like Pac, Daz, Snoop, LBC Crew...but I'm more than happy with what we are getting
