for sure Kobe was MJ’s successor…but I think Pennys scoring would have increased without Shaq on the team…then again when he went to Phoenix it actually decreased if I remember correctly he wasn’t a great defender though you’re right
well shaq needed a kobe level co-star and while penny was great, he was no kobe penny hardaway was pissed when shaq left for the paper and a teenager outa philly would become the greatest laker back to back to back yea there's a new goat in town bill walton said throw it down big man throw it down
Penny never had that Jordan and Kobe level jumper. He could shoot, dribble, drive, dunk on an almost Kobe and Jordan level. He actually was a better passer than Kobe and Jordan as a point guard that was nearly 6'9" is like Magic Johnson. But the one big thing that set Jordan and Kobe apart from everyone else was that they had that jumper they could pretty much go to and get a decent shot off on any and every possession. That Jordan jumper never gets talked about enough. Other aspects like Jordan and Kobe being great finishers, you had guys like Scottie and Penny that were also great finishers—and even Ron Harper and Kukoc a really good finisher. That's another aspect that doesn't get talked about enough when people talk about those great Bulls teams was how they made it look so easy finishing around the basket—that if they gained the slightest advantage over the defense they cashed in nearly every time.
he was a pass first guy bro the year shaq left he was still healthy and averaged 20 ppghis career high is 42 points mj and kobe had entire months averaging that lol
Kobe had the best range of all those shooters too...he not only was a successor to MJ but an improved version
Kobe had the best range of all those shooters too...he not only was a successor to MJ but an improved versiononly 42? damnyeah I remember Mike averaged like 37 one year early on I think before Pippen was drafted...and Kobe had a similar year as well one season
Shit man I had to look that up... Forgot that MJ actually AVERAGED 37 one season. I need to go back and watch a game of that team on youtube because that scoring average is insane. That would be most guys career best scoring night
kobe average 35.6 in the dead ball era where his team averaged 95 ppg actually more impressive in terms of ratio
I know this won’t be enough for you but I give it up to Kobe as being the only legit heir (air) apparent to Jordan. And there were so many marketed over the years to be the next Jordan, just off top…Vince CarterPennyGrant Hill (he had a bigger push than you guys think)LebronTracy McGradyDerrick RoseAnd I’m sure I’m forgetting a dozen others. Nobody came close except Kobe didn’t just come close he actually was the legit heir apparent to Mike. Now of course that doesn’t mean I am putting Kobe over Mike.Mike is my childhood hero along with He-Man, Hogan, Prime, Daz, Tyson, Balboa, Teen Wolf (who was also a really great baller at a highschool level led his team to the state championship and then bailed so Scott could get some shine). If Teen Wolf 🐺 had continued basketball 🏀 and not switched to boxing 🥊 for Teen Wolf 2 they say he would’ve been a better college player than Jordan was at North Carolina. And who knows what would’ve happened in the NBA.
crazy…I was too young to experience any of it at the time but I did catch some You Tube gamesthat I remember well…I think it was the season he dropped the 81 but I could be wrong…probably the greatest season I have watched any NBA player have
yup .. and scored 62 in 3 quarters a couple games prior (outscoring the entire mavs team).. he sat out the 4th quarter of that game and they asked him "why didn't u play the 4th and go for 80?!" .. his answer was "don't trip, i'll get it on the next one" GOAT SHIT
