Sadly, this is true.  Missionary was okay, but not representative of Dre's standard.  I would love to see him work with some of the younger producers in the game, and get some new inspiration.  I loved Compton and, the GTA tracks were cool, but his sound is stalled.

funny thing is the EP his son released and those Afrobeat joints he mixed were amongst some of the best things he's done lately. so yeah he needs to work with some other producers no offense to the ICU but Missionary says it all. i don't mean to pick on this track constantly but Outta Da Blue was one of the worst things he's ever done.

last time i checked Scott Storch was starting to find his groove a bit again. have Dre & Scott ever made bad music together? that guy is a genius who can enhance any genre or production.

that unreleased akon song snippet from a while ago sounded like a banger, I've heard dozens of snippet unreleased dre songs over the years and all of them sounded incredible
Tbh it sounded like some youtube dr.dre style beat from 2011 lol

To Pimp a Butterfly
Yeah this and Compton don't even belong in the same conversation

there's no way anyone can listen to Missionary and feel that his sound has evolved in a good way in recent years. it's only got progressively worse with his current team of producers, as has the mixing.
Depends on what exactly you're comparing it to. Because his sound objectively improved on Missionary compared to his Oxnard beats. It didn't get progressively worse since Compton, more like they've picked some bullshit tracks for Snoop. Some parts on Missionary (Hard knoccs, Scyscrapers, Fire etc) are better than some records on Compton (talk about it, 1 shot 1 kill, medcine man, satisfiction), plus it feels less chaotic now.

His sound pretty much stayed the same since 2020 Eminem album. That, GTA ost and Missionary sound like it could've been from the same session

And his mixing was awful on Compton too, even Focus himself admitted that if I'm not mistaking

But you're right, even if something drops it's gonna be a mess. I mean obviously we'll all check it out but it's better to not expect anything good from it.

To Pimp a Butterfly

The Documentary 2 and PRhyme's first album also dropped in 2015 and were both better than Compton.
