Wonder if Dre will use Dr. Tyson's connections with NASA and Harvard to sample some sounds from their sonification program  8)

Judging by the overwhelming interest and positive reactions from "people here" I'd say you've lost that bet my man lol. I'm a day 1 Dre fan and am genuinely excited about this project. I'd go further and say that any Dre fan is a fan of the 70s music - obviously funk but soul and R&B. And if you like the 70s stuff, you probably like the 60s too. Wanna count all the Grammys and other awards behind that shit? lol. My point is, these type of listeners don't consider "talking about smoking weed and being a gangster" the end-all-be-all; after all, the music that gave rise to Dre was talking about a whole bunch of other stuff - and so was the music that gave rise to that. Give people some credit dude lol - it's a little more sophisticated than you're making it out to be. Like the dude above me said, good music is good music. And being a fan of good music isn't shallow. Not being a fan of it is lol.
Sure
I can relate to this!!!
But on the other hand
A real chronic 3 would be the shit
Idk about an DRE Instrumental album
Would it be critically acclaimed I think so
Would it be a fan praiser hmmm
For me, it would be another letdown by my/a goat

I want a Missionary type album but with good/dope beats
I think this coulda praise everybody

Well A it is a moot point because this will never drop in a million years. And B Dre has done outside the box stuff his whole career and people shit on it any time it is not gangster rap. This time will be no different.

Just look at history man. It is not that hard. All the way back from the Jimmy Z jazz album to Cassablanco. Maybe you are too young but trust us OGs here.

And now I see you on a video with Michelle? Looking like straight bozos. Dre took a lot of heat for working with Michelle. It was not well received in the rap community at the time. Eminem is still rap and already had quite a following when Dre signed him. Eazy E signed JJ Fad and Dre worked on their album well before his gangster persona and their album came out before Straight Outta Compton. So there was no outside the box with them.

My examples were clearly better as Jimmy Z was well after Dre was established. You need to look no further than here to see the threads on Cassablanco and Missionary to see how Dre fans react when he tries something different.

Oh and let us not forget his recent Outside the Box project. The Someday Has Just Begun song. Did not see many people here enjoying that one.

I speak in facts and logic. I was there in 1988 when this shit dropped and Dre and NWA first came on the scene. I was there when Nicety and Funky Flute dropped and everyone was like WTF is this?  Then the club mix dropped and Dre rapped even longer on it. People thought Dre was done. Eazy got him back on the right track. Like Eazy said, deep down Dre was never really a gangster. He was Wrecking Kru through and through. Dre hopped on the gangster rap bandwagon because that was what was selling. Remember the Aftermath Compilation that bombed?  Dre has tried so many times to leave gangster rap but his fans want nothing but that from him so he has to keep going back to it.

Then there are people like you who drool every time there is a rumor of Dre dropping any sort of song or beat thinking it is gonna be Detox and when it isnt, you whine and cry until you hear of Dre doing something again and the whole cycle repeats. You will cry again if this Planets album ever drops.

missionary did drop .. it was gangsta rap .. and it wasn't well received

so less to do with gangsta rap and more to do with the music just wasn't great

Fair point. I do agree. Dont get me wrong, I give Dre props, one of the greatest of all time no doubt.  Its like any artist, when they do things outside to what their fanbase are used to, it doesnt usually do well.

Generally the idea of message boards is to have conversations. At least Sccit makes good points and discussions, even if we dont always agree.

Your juvenile replies about jizz and masturbating and whatever else youre talking about really shows your immaturity and difficulty, based on your intelligence level, to engage in discussions like this. Its no wonder you have no knowledge of the early years of Dre and his career, and thus are unable to contribute anything of substance to the discussion.
