USA - Belgium tonight... lots of controversy surrounding that red card suspension/unsuspension of Balogun. Game is at 2 AM for me in the middle of the night but I'm still gonna watch this one. Hope it isn't postponed because of weather like Mexico - England last night.

btw I think this should be moved to Sports & Entertainment

what do u think of that red card reversal?

no bias on my end, it didn't seem like the right call .. not sure how often stuff like that gets reversed tho. favoritism or just the right move?

interesting

I personally don't think it should have been reversed after the fact like that...but good for the USA

I'm trying to think of what the equivalent to that would be in our professional sports leagues?

You can debate wether it was a red card. It didn't seem intentional but it was still wreckless but once a referee decides it's rarely reversed after the game so it's a bit of a strange situation especially with Trump supposed to have spoken to Infantino about it. FIFA has been a joke anyway since bringing the world cup to Qatar.

a technical foul or flagrant foul in basketball being rescinded so a player can play the next game if they're over the limit ... it happened to dillon brooks earlier this year.

I didn't want it to be a red card. It's complicated because when I saw it happen I already knew the red card would be given because these referees go strictly by the rules.

I don't get it, and don't really care that much, but for someone interested who knows the sport maybe they can explain to me what happened, and how Trump called FIFA, and what followed?

I can explain.

Was it a red card?
It was a dubious red card. There have been way worse fouls that didn't get a red card.

How often do red cards gets reversed?
Rarely. Only happens when it isn't dubious, but really obvious it isn't a red card. For example when the player that got the red card didnt even touch the player. Now with VAR this should never happen anymore.

What do I think?
It is obvious the FIFA is rotten to the core. Everyone that follows football knows they are corrupt and you can get things from them using money or power.

I like that Trump actually utilizes this, similar to Vargentina. They don't whine and do nothing about it like all other countries. They decide to use it to their advantage and also expose the FIFA even more for the people that were still questioning the integrity of the FIFA

Good explanation...

Did Trump get them to change the call but America still lost?
