RIP Ricky Henderson - Mets, A's, Yankees, etc

I really only remember him with that great A's team that was the Mike Tyson, Jordan, Joe Montana 49ers, juggernaut team of baseball that we all thought were unbeatable as kids.  I watched the Blue Jays World Series but forgot he was even on that team.

But this stat line is for you — Higheyecue, I just discovered he had one of the best seasons ever for a 40+ years old guy with your Mets.  This is phenomenal:

1. Age 40 (1999, New York Mets) — His best older season

* .315 batting average
* .423 on-base percentage
* 12 home runs
* 37 stolen bases
* 89 runs scored
* Helped lead the Mets to the NLCS.
* His .315 average at age 40 is almost unheard of for a leadoff hitter, and he was still one of the best on-base players in baseball

yeah I had the privilege of watching one of the GOATs play for the Mets that year...even though this was before my time it kind of correlates with us getting Willie Mays at the very end of his career in 1972 and he played with us when we made the WS in 1973 when we lost to the mighty A's in a 7 game series which we were up 3-2 and lost the final 2...they also both wore their legendary 24 when they played here...the difference being Willie was done at that time it was really more of bringing him back to NY where he started his career with the Giants...Rickey still had a lot left obviously and was a joy to watch that season with the Mets
