based on the fact that he reused it on at least 5 different tracks I think Daz considers his opening verse here his bestthe 2 verses by Nas were the real highlight of the track however especially his last verse
I never liked this... It always sounded fan made to me, like, "oh let's put Nas and Dogg Pound together on a song".
well it sort of is...Daz released this on Tha Last of The Pound as a F you to Suge by talking over the track and dissing Death Row...this is not the true OG if anyone on the board has it PM me lol...Its a legit track though...in every verse one mentions the other
If they were gonna put Dogg Pound and Nas on a track, Daz should've produced something like what Pete Rock did with Kurupt and Nas sort of matching each other with the same East Coast style lyrical energy, a bit like what another great producer Pete Rock did when he put Inspectah Deck and Kurupt on a track together. This is what the Dogg Pound and Nas track should've been like, "TRU MASTER" (and Daz could've done like the chorus and maybe a verse and done some harmonizing or even just taken a verse and matched them cause Daz can do his thing as well and hold his own wit tha greats on the mic as well, btw)"GOD IS GOOD GROWING UP IN THE HOOD/DONE SOME THINGS BAD AND SOME THINGS GOOD"--Kurupt--..or even better if DPG was in their Prime they could've made a monster joint like Dre did pairing Game and Nas
Tru Master was a classicI still remember seeing the video for the 1st time either on BET or MTV raps I don't even remember
It was 99% likely you saw it on BET. It didn't crack the mainstream enough to make MTV but certainly got a lot of love on BET
yeah you're rightMTV which was heavy into hip-hop in the mid 90s seemed to forget about the genre by '98I still remember watching this live
