What happens to "Detox" now?...
« on: July 17, 2003, 12:21:20 AM »
Here's my worry.

If Rakim left the Math because Jimmy was pushing him and Dre to make an album they didn't want to, what makes Dre think Jimmy will agree to this revolutionary, groundbreaking sound we're told to expect from Detox?

The way I understood it, Dre is aiming for Detox to revolutionise the sound of hip hop, and to be like nothing we've heard before. But if Jimmy won't give the all-clear to some grimy, hardcore, no-hook-having hip hop like Rakim, is he really going to agree to releasing something as unconventional as Detox is supposed to be, even if it does have Dre's name attached?

Where's Mellowman when you need him? I want to hear all this shit explained.

LMAO, c'mon now.  "Mellowman" was exposed a long time ago over that song that Dre supposedly made about Bin Laden...Mellowman was just some kid fukking around with nothing better to do, making educated guesses about the future, and that time his words came around and bit him in the azz.  That's why he doesn't post here anymore.
"Detox" is a myth -- Bigfoot, Loch Ness Monster, Area 51, Iraq having WMD, Detox...you get it now?  It was invented by the Aftermath marketing department to maintain the fans' attention.  Notice how everytime a new Aftermath album is ready to come out, they always mention Detox is next up?  Because they are using the invention of "Detox" as a way to market other albums.  The sooner you realize that Detox is NOT REAL, the sooner you'll feel liberated.  Oh yeah, f.u. Aftermath for fooling us fans.

?? explain this "exposing" to me please

Most hip-hop is now keyboard driven, because the majority of hip-hop workstations have loops and patches that enable somebody with marginal skills to put tracks together,...

Unfortunately, most hip-hop artists gravitated towards the path of least resistance by relying on these pre-set patches. As a result, electric guitar and real musicians became devalued, and a lot of hip-hop now sounds the same.

2 Lord Funk:
I see what u are sayin...one thing I think is that we never get the real deal or the scope of whats really goin on anyway. But it all depends how dope that Dre's album comes. If u look at how Outkast is, with Stankonia and with that new track Ghetto Music, they are in a completely different world, and it doesn't appeal to everybody...so if dre came like that I don't kno if it would be approved.
But sometimes, when music is revolutionized, it may have an immediate impact which doesn't require having an acquired taste to it, such as when the Neptunes came out, and even when Dre first came out...they had a completely different sound, but soon as somebody hears it, they love it. Now if Dre is comin like that, I don't think it's any way they will turn the album down, but if he is on some Outkast shit that is on a different planet, then it might cause problems.

He wasn't exposed about the Bin Laden track..
Cause it wasn't released isn't a reason to believe that Mellowman was lying.

Dr. Dre said on 106 & Park that he had made a diss record to Osama Bin Laden.
