New Video Game Soundtrack Featuring All Westcoast Music

This fall activision is going to release a video game much to the likes of the grand theft auto series. Well if you're a westcoast rap fan, you will love the new game True Crime: Streets Of L.A. Here is the official report. Besides the fact that the game is coming out this year for the Playstation 2, Xbox and Gamecube, they will be releasing a double cd to purchase with all the added tracks to the game

September 02, 2003 - Activision's highly anticipated action drama, True Crime: The Streets of L.A. , has upped the ante on video game soundtracks. Not only will their game feature over 50 original music tracks, which they are billing as the "largest collection ever showcased in a video game," but they've just added Snoop Dogg to the list of artists represented on the soundtrack.

Snoop Dogg will headline Activision's True Crime: Streets of L.A. soundtrack with an all-new original song. Additionally, the mission-based driving and action video game will debut original songs performed by the some of the biggest names in West Coast rap. To date the soundtrack will include music by Westside Connection (Ice Cube, Mac 10, WC), E-40, KAM, Caviar, Easy-E Jr., Lil ˝ Dead, Bad Azz, Damizza, Young Billionaires, Sly Boogy, KoKain and Jay-O-Felony. Many of these new tracks will not only be featured in the game, but have been lyrically themed around the gritty crime drama's action game play. The soundtrack will also feature licensed tracks from O.G. West Coast rappers such as Ice-T and D.O.C., as well as contemporary hip-hop acts like N.E.R.D.

"True Crime: Streets of L.A. represents the largest collection of
original West Coast hip-hop music ever assembled," stated Chris Archer, executive producer, Activision Worldwide Studios. "The collision of the game's intense action with the pulse pounding sounds from the powerhouses of urban music will elevate video game soundtracks to a whole new standard."

To help them make the True Crime: Streets of L.A. double CD soundtrack a reality, Activision has partnered with Vybe Squad, LLC and the soundtrack is scheduled for release this fall and will be distributed by Universal.

"Vybe Squad is thrilled to have partnered with Activision to release what is sure to be one of the most extraordinary and innovative collections of hip-hop music," added Bright Riley, CEO, Vybe Squad.
"This album marks the first time that the entire west coast is joining forces to create some of the hottest flows L.A. has to offer."

True Crime: Streets of L.A., the game, will be available this fall for the PlayStation 2 , Xbox, and GameCube consoles.

Yep, good line-up. Considering that it's a game it's excellent actually. GTA: Vice City's soundtrack was something new in the business 'cause of the all-star line-up, but this is something else since they got NEW music.

True Crime: Streets of L.A.
While Activision was only showing two games at Games Convention 2003, it was one of the more popular booths. Only being shown in video form, True Crime had the crowds lined up around the corner, making the Activision booth a hot spot in the back of the main hall.

With top notch production techniques, Hollywood voice talent and twisting plot, Activision's True Crime: Streets of LA could be a movie masquerading as a videogame, or vice versa. Developed by Luxoflux, of Vigilante 8 fame, the biggest asset this title brings -- next to its combination of fighting, shooting and driving -- is the dynamic storyline that players will be shaping as they progress through the game. All of the driving and fighting you'll be doing across the 300 square miles of Los Angeles that have been re-created for this game is held together by a storyline that branches off repeatedly as you make certain decisions and pass or fail certain objectives.

But to understand how the story works, we'll need to first explain how the game itself is going to work. Much like Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto series, you're given a living city that goes about its routine business, as you try to complete more than one hundred story-based missions and the hundred randomly generated crimes that will occur during the course of the game. Both the story and the random crimes will require you to put all of your driving, shooting and combat skills to use in a variety of ways. Apprehending criminals, chasing down and eliminating enemies and racing through the city streets aren't even a drop in the bucket of what you'll be able to do using the combination driving/third person engine in True Crime.

While we didn't really see anything we hadn't seen before, the game is still looking pretty damn good, even in video form.

I can see it now - I'll be digging the tunes so much I won't be able to work out what I'm meant to be doing in the game

Funny though - the pics don't look... y'know... too hip-hop. Can't imagine Jayo bumping while I play this.. still, looking forward to it.
