In my opinion the most skillful DJ's on the West are Cut Chemist and DJ Babu.

ANALYSIS
San Francisco’s very own DJ Q-Bert is one of the premiere turntablists and perhaps the most recognized and respected Asian American hip-hop artist to date. Q-Bert can still recall the first time he got into the hip-hop scene back in 1985:

"I would go to school and there would be homeboys on the bus just playing that music and I was like, ‘Damn, I got to go check that out.’ And then I seen someone doing it in a garage and I was like, ‘That’s crazy.’ So I went home and I got my dad’s equipment and I started scratching."
From there, Q-Bert and some of his friends formed a group known as FM 2.0 and began to perfect the art form known as turntablism. What exactly is turntablism? Well, it is the use of a turntable to manipulate and alter sounds from a record to create a unique music. As time went by, the group changed their name from FM 2.0 to the Invisible Skratch Piklz and perfected their skills enough to enter in Disco Mixing Club (DMC) competitions. In fact, Q-Bert had mastered the talent to the point where he won DMC competitions and was crowned champion each year from 1991 to 1994. In 1995, however, DMC forced Q-Bert to retire because they felt that he was monopolizing the first place position. Despite not being able to compete, Q-Bert continued to make waves in the hip-hop scene. To this day, people are still mesmerized by this man’s talents. Q-Bert’s innovations have not only revolutionized turntablism and taken it to unseen heights, but it has also opened up doors to many new, aspiring DJ’s around the globe.
"There was an era of djs before Q-Bert came about and then came the era transformed by him. This time began during the year of his first appearance onto the national scene in 1991. In the past 7 years his influence to the dj/turntablist/skratch community are unparalleled by no other. Contributing to almost every skratch musical note and skratch historical moment known to this day. His dynamic control of the turntable whether through breakneck speed improvisation to soulful musical emotion, his impatient offbeat system has brought only astonished eyed and ears and minds."

^^^Haha you beat me to it. I was just thinking about Q-Bert.

LMAO @ Jam, Yella & Quik. They're DJ's yes, but they wouldn't be able to battle Q-Bert, Babu, Mr. Hahn, Cut Chemist etc. Those are Turntablists, they do more than just mixing and scratching here and there.

Rectangle rips it up one the songs I've heard him scratch. Don't know if he can do that live though.
