Just got announced today that snoop dogg will be a playable charecter in truecrimes streets of la which is coming out on Xbox,PS2,Gamecube on nov 4th

Activision officially revealed to IGN today that well-known rapper Snoop Dog is in fact a playable character in the upcoming noir-action game, True Crime: Streets of LA.

Due to hit streets November 4, 2003, Activision's ambitious project enables players to unlock and play as Snoop Dog, who can run around, drive and blast NPCs in the enormous polygonal landscape of LA.

Taking on Rockstar's venerable Grand Theft Auto series in all aspects, True Crime: Streets of LA enables gamers to follow a story-based driving, shooting and fighting game, replete with a branching storyline, voice acting from a top-of-the-line cast, and an all rap and funk-based soundtrack.

We spoke with Activision's Brian Clarke, senior producer, who answered a few questions about Snoop's role.

IGN: What role does Snoop play in the game?

Brian Clarke: First of all, Snoop has contributed some great tracks to the game and the soundtrack. Secondly, Snoop is a hidden character in the game -- in fact he has his own hidden mini-game.

If the player unlocks him, Snoop will be around to help Nick rid crime from the city. Rolling in his own custom convertible, the Dogg Father can take on all of the criminal scum and filth in the streets of LA!

IGN: How did Snoop become a part of the game?

Brian: L.A.-based Vybe Squad, LLC, producer of the original songs in the game, as well as the official game soundtrack/companion CD, have a great relationship with Snoop. When they approached him about contributing original songs to the game they also discussed the possibility of him being a game character. Being a big videogame fan, he took them up on the offer
