Sure we like almost every fucking artist on the west from ras to Brotha Lynch to Paris to Dilated to Acey alone, etc, but none of these guys or hardly any other westcoast rapper makes music that would make them blow up!  If tehy really wanna blow up, learn how to make a song for the fucking radio!  I mean, it is so easy right, because you guys diss everyone who is successful because ANYONE can make a hit record!  

Westcoast artists need to stand on their own two feet and  do wat they need to do to be successful.  If that means blowing up, they could shell out some bucks and work with some top name producers, OR, learn how to make music that people other than we on this board and in CALI like!  Until then, i am fine with listening to my underground westcoast in oblivion, as long as these artists make a living and continue to make decent music.  PEACE ya'll

I agree with that somewhat. The thing I am noticin is that outside of CA, people just don't like G-Funk anymore, and a lot of people jus don't like anything they don't hear on TV period, so no matter how tite an artist from the west is, they don't like it if it's not on TV. But at the same time, if they heard our shit on TV, they'd like it just as much as we do, because most people around the country like whatever they see on TV regardless of how good it is.

I donno y the west can't ever get on TV...maybe it doesn't have enough appeal as u said, to get on shit like 106 and park. But even at that, I think those "call in and vote" shows are bullshit that probably don't even pay attention to how many people request a certain video.

The only things westcoast artist need to do is hook up with already big artists. I can see Roscoe and Suga Free getting more commercial sucess because they've recently worked with Murphy Lee and Chingy.

They've also gotta make fastpaced party beats. Because to tell you, i've heard Roscoe's "Trouble" in a club once.

So there are chances the west will blow up. they just gotta.....ummmmm.....i guess sellout for a bit.

there's more than one definate reason why the west isn't popular...... west coast artists have tried to make radio hits and they don't work either, look at kurupt's "it's over now" it took the same style east coast rappers were using for awhile....poppy ass beat, a girl rapper on it and some kids singing the chorus....flop, truth hurts "addictive", pretty much started that whole arabian vibe in music that people like NORE ended up using, even did the rapper and R&B combo that asanti/ja rule have been using the only difference is NORE sold Truth Hurts didn't and ashanti sells truth doesn't.

i'll give you one thing though, the west coast doesn't flood the market with commerial as much as the other coasts. that is just part of the reason

the west coast would blow up if they were on major labels that threw the music in your face at every given moment. so that its on mtv and the radio 24/7 the only west coast artists that get that is dre/snoop/xzibit. Snoop wants the lime light so much his artists wont blow up. All other westcoast artits r on labels that dont have the money and resources to get the artist all over the tv and radio all the time. How much promotion was there 4 yukmouths album or roscoes barely any then compare it to say freeways album which was everywhere coz rocafella were pushing it. All the labels with power r on the east excluding aftermath.

Have you heard Acey's new album? He has plenty of Radio-Styled jams. Have you heard Yukmouth's album? E-40's? Tha Relativez? C'mon man. To say the West cats don't make radio jams is absurd. Sly Boogy had radio songs on his album. Roscoe has radio jams. Shade Sheist did. Knoc does. Your logic is fucked up.

Roscoe is on a shitty label, that's why his singles never took off. With the help of some heavyweights, he could get a good deal. Yuk has a shitty deal, that's Virgin/Rap-A-Lot's fault. Again, with the help of some big names he could get a good deal elsewhere. Sly Boogy is indi, no videos there, same with Acey and Tha Relativez. But, that's not the fucking point.

They make hot jams, but it gets overlooked because they're not affiliated. You know it's true.

the reason the west isn't blowing up is because they already blew up last decade with this music.  They are still putting out the same stuff, just not as good, or fresh sounding.  Its the same old stuff.  

examples:
Daz- rr&gb compared to his latest effort.  same album just dpgc is not half as good.  full of dpg rappers as guests, gangsta topics, sex, drugs, gangs, guns, murders, dpg, westcoast are what both albums are all about.  same type of production just dpgc ain't very good.

the same can be said for many westcoast artists who are still in the game- spice 1, C-BO, e-a-ski, mack 10, etc.

New westcoast acts need to come up with something new and refreshing.  Sly Boogy is cool, but nothing major or mindblowing.  Peeps say crooked I will blow up.  Same story with him.  His album is gonna be nothing new.  As much as I luv the new eastsidaz new bootleg, it is still nothing new.  I am luvin the strong arm steady shit, but it's not really gonna stand out among other westcoast rap.  I am guessing that the avg person who likes rap and doesn't live in cali, doesn't really pay attention to what the west is bringing (with exceptions) because they figure its nothing new.  They liked that style of rap when it was popular back in the mid 90's.  Even myself, who luvs westcoast gangsta rap, am bored of it.  90% of all albums that I have either d/l or bought within the last couple of years get very few plays from me.  Some I probably haven't even listend to all the way through.  Sometimes they might sound really hot the first listen or two, but they just  can't hold my attention for long after that.  I would rather just listen to the older better albums.

the same goes for new artists too:
sly boogy- his album is good, but nothing to blow up off of, nothing real refreshing
roscoe- great album, but just another typical westcoast album, its been done b4
Ecay Uno-I luv his album, but again, people have heard this same shit already

Yes, it's the label's fault as far as Yuk/Roscoe go. But, with help from bigger names, they could get a good deal. It's a fact. Snoop and Dre could help out.

Dre could lace them up with a beat. That's helping out.

Xzibit is regarded as a sell out for lyrics like: "Me and Fred about to go half on  Microsoft." Also, because of songs like "Get Ur Walk On."

Listen to "X-Homie" by J-Ro. It sums up Xzibit.
