2003 wasnt that huge... 2004 looks to be great... some solid stuff this year.. but nothing that blew away.. just remember who was here when the chips were down.

I didn't feel the westcoast hip hop scene really delivered what i wanted this year.

The Westcoast scene every now and then did treat us to few delights.
Sonic Jihad was soild, Gangsta Nations was a dope single,...
Hip Hop bieng a global super power, it was nice to have some westcoast artists return with material to the game WSC, Boo Ya, Paris.

Snoop being the most active westcoast artist but let the side down. Acting the fool all year long, telling lies (this time im quittin weed for good..), apparently robbing other westcoast artists, coming out with coon statements on tv shows, paying a pimp to teach him how to act like a pimp, releasing a whole lot of material some good most bad.
He should get rid of his yes men.

Crosses fingers for next year.

^yea... every year is a bad year for west coast rap for me cuz i'm still stuck in 91-97 lol... 8)

I don't see the greatness in 4 life, everything I hear from them is just average. And also, barely anybody I kno knows who they are. I don't talk to a lotta industry people but people in L.A. I kno, don't kno who they are or anything about them.

Aceyalone - Love & Hate
Boo Yaa TRIBE - West Koasta Nostra
Brotha Lynch Hung - Lynch By Inch
Defari - Odds & Evens
E-40 - Breakin' News
Hieroglyphics - Full Circle
Roscoe - Young Roscoe Philaphornia
Sly Boogy - Judgement Day
T-Nutty - Last Of Flow Heekinz
Yukmouth - Godzilla
Lifesavas - Spirit In Stone
For me, these were the only hot LPs out West. Mixtapes are sort of throw away, I don't count them. A so-so year, not that great though. But, all Hip Hop was like that this year, except for The South.

BTW, IV Life is OK at best, to me and the Snoop Dogg mixtapes were absolutely shitty.

Nima's list:

Good, quality releases, true - but how many of those actually had heads turning world or even nation wide? Not that many. Taking that into consideration it wasn't that good of a year... But the West still damn sure got the quality, I ain't questioning that.

its always good to see a westcoast rapper get some shine & airplay, but id rather listen to a quality underground album which has replay value than a average cd which has heads turning all around the globe. a good example is sly boogy with judgement day, great cd but no one knows anything about him or his record
