I ain't really seen much of those... Can't find 'em here.

As a purely "hip-hop" movie, as in where hip-hop is an essential theme of the story, I have to say 8 Mile. When you think about it not many of those movies mentioned have hip-hop as a central theme - we just associate the movie with hip-hop since similar things (like living in the hood) are talked about in rap music or a hip-hop artist acts in it. But a movie like Friday (which is one of my personal favourites of all time) or How High is not really a "hip-hop movie" hip-hop hasn't got anything to do with the movie - maybe the soundtrack, but that don't count.

Using a wider scope like this, I gotta go with Friday. I'd rather be told a story about a good day with a happy ending than some drama like Boyz In The Hood (which also is a really good fil though). Why? Life's got anough drama in it by itself, but the good moments are sparse.

Yeah for real.....That was a terrible movie.

Most hip-hop is now keyboard driven, because the majority of hip-hop workstations have loops and patches that enable somebody with marginal skills to put tracks together,...

Unfortunately, most hip-hop artists gravitated towards the path of least resistance by relying on these pre-set patches. As a result, electric guitar and real musicians became devalued, and a lot of hip-hop now sounds the same.
