any1 else sick of listening to dr. dre talking about....
« on: January 22, 2004, 12:24:39 PM »
how much of a pioneer he is? goddam. the last 5 or 10 songs i've heard him on, all he talks about is how fuckin dope he is. it's gettin kinda old dre....maybe you've run out of things to say? people dickride him way too much to the point that he thinks he's a goddam god or something. i mean, yeah, dre is probably one of the best producers out there EVER, but i'm gettin a little tired of hearing shit like "...i'm the mothafuckin pioneer of this rap shit..."  that's just fuckin great dre.

the reason i brought this up is cuz i just picked up the dj green lantern mixtape and dre is on one of the later songs sounding like an 8th grader sayin shit like "...i'm so drunk right now and i just smoked a fat ass blunt...and i'm the pioneer of this shit....blahblahblah". it sounds embarassing to me. i can't believe someone would go on record bragging that they're drunk and high and how they're the fuckin shit. it's understandable in battle raps, and raps directed towards those that dissed him, but it seems to be all i hear out of his mouth these days....

lol. since i been on this board i've started about 20 topics about how i think everyone on here rides dre a little too hard. but as time has gone by, there are a lot less dickriders (or just a lot more people), and a lot more people that think he gets more praise than he should. so i think i'm in alright company.

no...

i hate boasters.. i dont like how dre's been doing that since restless.

BUT...

the think with dre is... he doesnt put out a lot.

what makes him 'the best' is merely a good ear and most importantly quality control.

feel me?

Dre is fucked up man......And this news for his new album doesnt even make me look forward to it....We get "Detox feat. Mary J, Eve and 50 Cent, 12 tracks"   WTF is that....Hopefully its not true....

But for real, alota peeps hate on Snoop because "he dont fuck with Dre" well I think its the other way around IMO....You got Snoop still puttin it down with the LBC cats Bad Azz E White Goldie, Nate, Warren ect....But Dre doesnt fuck with any OGs anymore....None of the real dudes Dre came up with get down with him....Instead we have to hear all this Dr Dre feat. Eminem, 50 Cent, Obie Trice, Eve and Mary J bullshit....What the fuck is up with that.  Im a fan of Dre, but  a pissed off fan at that.

I dunno about Dre thinking he's a God, but I agree that there are a lot of people who are riding Dre's dick. I'm not necessarily talking about fans cuz everybody has their own favourite rappers etc. but in terms of artists there are lots. Most recent example that springs to my mind is 'The Future' with Stat Quo (seriously, what does Dre see talent-wise in Stat that he couldn't see in Rakim?) where Stat goes on for what seems like ages saying stuff like 'Dre pioneered this shit' and how when the listeners were all little kids, Dre was putting out classics. Then again, Dre lavishes the praise on Stat Quo as well as he's always shouting out 'y'all ain't fucking with this man', 'Dre with down South, what?', 'Hot!', and so on. Its like Dre thinks Stat is one of the top in the game. Although to be honest Dre seems pretty damned baked on that track. lol, its funny when Dre's rambling on at one point and Stat says something like 'Dre is fucked up right now' and starts laughing, and then Dre says 'Hey man I don't give a fuck - i just drank a whole fith and I don't give a mothafuck...'

'Hey, hey fuck that man! This Doc mothafuckin' Dre man. I'm drunk as shit. I done smoked a fucking fat ass mothafuckin' blunt in this mothafucka, and uh...' Dr. Dre (sounding totally out of it 8))

Ever heard of the saying "Less Is More?"  Dre puts out less because hes so damn picky about how it reflects upon him as a producer.  Lets face it, he considers himself a pioneer because he is one and on top of that, the public considers him one.  Hes just agreeing with public perception thats all.  Its not like with Michael Jackson who labeled HIMSELF the king of pop.  Dre actually earned it and the public labeled him that.

At this point in the game, thats all he seems concerned with and I dont blamn him.  Hes not concerned with stayin down with WC artists.. hes just concerned with making good music that he believes in.  On one hand, its good to see an artist work on something that they really believe in and put it out when its ready.  Too many cats be throwin shit together just to make some quick money.  If he didnt say that he was a PIONEER, the public would still consider him one.  I just think that some people are pissed that hes finally agreeing and voicing it.

how much better is greatness when it's not seeming like it's the only thing the person is shooting for? i think being humble sounds so much better than being so damn full of yourself. so what if he agrees, i just don't see the point of talking about yourself like that. it just gets old, quick. even JA RULE talks about how great he is and look at what a loser that guy is. it's so much better to be humble when you're on top of the world.

I agree staying humble is always more respected in real life.. but in hip hop its all about braggin rights homie and Dre's earned it.  Flat out.  And for the record.  I dig Stat.   ;)

It's IMPOSSIBLE to compare Ja Rule to Dre. Ja has NO RIGHT to even go there.

What a dick Ja Rule is. If he thinks Dre's a genius why the hell did he go and label Dre a fag on the 'Loose Change' track  ??? I bet Ja would sell his soul for a Dre beats these days - he sure needs one! ;D

Ja Rule said a LOT of times Eminem was a genius, too.
