best way is to seperate albums for seperate rapper and seperate type of songs eg

2pac -mix 1 slow jams mix
2pac-mix 2 hard jams mix

or just do 2pac mix with all his type of songs mixed the above works for me

there is hope

damn that ain't too bad, probably even cheaper now.

nah their still right around that range...we sell 80 gig at work for 119.99 and 160 gig for 199.99

well thats cause u work at radiocrap.  you think I would be dumb enuff to buy something from there?  I would always buy any computer parts online, where its cheapest.  No offense to you, but radioshack is waaaaaayyyyy too expensive.

you may think that but i've done my research...we're actually cheaper than a lot of people.

you just lookin in the wrong places  ;)

I throw all my shit into one folder titled "Full Albumz."  I have every album in a seperate folder, and all the single tracks in one special folder.  I play everything through Winamp, and I have a playlist of pre-sorted songs that I like (I never add a full album, I add just the tracks I like to the playlist.)  The playlist is sorted alphabetically and I have the titles like this so that the song title is always alphabetized according to artist.
"DJ Quik - Get 2Getha Again ft. AMG, 2nd II None, Hi-C, and El Debarge"
All the other songs that aren't in my playlist don't really look like this, but I don't give a fuck because I don't really listen to them.

I just got a new computer and I've been going thru the same shit...

I've done a bunch of thinking about it, and I decided I'd start utilizing the power of playlists....

I've got the folders:

/Albums
/Mixtapes
/Compliations
/Singles
/Temp
/Misc
/Playlists

I put the proper Mp3's into the proper section, and then In the playlist folder I've got all the artists with their seperate folders.
For Example, In the Dr. Dre playlist folder I've got these playlists:

"All Retail Albums.m3u
Chronic.m3u
Aftermath Presents.m3u
Chronic 2001.m3u
Guest Apperances.m3u
Soundtracks.m3u
productions.m3u
unreleased.m3u"

It took me a good 3 or 4 days to get it all done, but I think it's really worth it and it makes it REAL easy to listen to your music. There are gonna be some overlaps in the playlists EX: Doggystyle in Dre's productions playlist and Doggystyle in Snoops retail albums playlist, but I don't really mind.

That's how I've been doing it and It's worked Pretty well.

This is how I do it:

D:\ARCHIVES: All kindsa tracks by my favorite artists, dubbed "ARCHIVES", only dope artists, no filler.

E:\GANGSTASHIT: Folder with misc. tracks for various obscure rappers, with sub-folder "NEW SINGLES"

F:\MIXTAPE SHIT: misc. artists with DJ's screaming, so I can't use them for CD's.

L:\Musicvideoz

L:\NEW ALBUMS - ONLY the newest albums, when I get bored they go into old albums section.
L:\OLD ALBUMS - Older, classic and dope albums that's worth keeping. 73 albums yet, just started collecting..

(L-drive is my 250G external harddrive)

Works perfect, easy to config, and easily accessable when I have set Winamp up to find the new shit..  8)

I dont bother with music on the comp... i usually just take an album from my room with me to the comp, or stream songs that have just leaked etc on ( eg. dubcnn, WCA ), or I chuck on a music dvd on the TV...

used to have a fair few mp3z, collected all rare DR shit, but cbf stuffing round with them all now, so I just buy my music and thats that.

This is the way i Arrange my music.

I created a new drive with my music, d:

I have a folder called Albums, with all my Albums, EPs, Soundtracks, Compilations, Mixtapes & Bootlegs.

Soundtrack: [Artist] = [OST]
Compilation: [Artist] = [VA]
Mixtape/Bootleg: [Artist] = [DJ or Artist]

/Albums
          /[Artist] - [Album] - [Year]
                                             /[Artist] - [Album] - [Track] - [Title].mp3

All my mp3 are in 192kpbs, with M3U/SFV/NFO. Properly tagged. All my albums have a small jpeg cover art.

I use http://www.cdtag.com/ for tagging.

If you have Windows Player and have tagged your MP3's properly, you can create some sick playlists.

If your tag your mp3's like this:

Artist: Nas
Title: Life's A Bitch (feat. AZ)
Album: Illmatic

With the guest artist in (feat. ) in the song title field. If you do that, you can create a Auto Playlist and just create parameter with all the songs with Jay-Z in the title field, and ALL of jigga's guest appearnaces pop-up. And it will be updated whenever you add new music.

You can do this with productions by filling out the composer field in advanced tag editing.

I say its best to arrange by category

west coast

queensbridge

crunk

??
"One day Alice came to a fork in the road and saw a Cheshire cat in a tree. "Which road do I take?" she asked. "Where do you want to go?" was his response. "I don't know," Alice answered. "Then," said the cat, "it doesn't matter."
