because the cali radio stations are owned by the same people who own all the other ones everywhere.. they play what those people with the power and money want them to play.

That's what I was going to say. Bein that I am from L.A. and still keep up on everything goin on there, I realize the stations play a little bit of LA rap, but the fact that they don't play shit LA in turn makes LA people hate on LA rap.  You don't know how many fake ass NY people are in LA that I know. I mean people who only think NY rappers are tite, basically worshippin Jadakiss, always wearin Flat brims, usin east coast slang, and thinkin Multis are 10 times as important as delivery. It's so many people in LA who don't know who Crooked I or Sly Boogy or Ras Kass are, and LA people know nothin about Bay Area rappers, but who are they to blame?

the problem is the marketplace is biased towards profit.

an example.

behind the scenes.  say 2 rappers have the same song, same delivery everthing.

1.. one is young has decent looks. will appeal to teenage girls.
2.. the other isnt too hot...(e.g. bad azz.. lol)

looks aside, theres another factor.

3.. has a decent deal
4.. will get paid pennies

who are they gonna put out?

on the looks thing alone..

they'll put out '1' because they can get this guy all over MTV

on the money thing

they'll put out '4' because they stand to make more profit.

Well, It's not the fact that people will only buy music that sells...it's that they buy what they hear. I know people outside of L.A. who woulda bought Suga Free, but they didn't know he existed until I played it for them. That's how it is with most music. Some people are brainwashed and will only buy what is on TV and radio...but some people would buy music that is good, but they don't even know it exists.

LOL, the funniest and most ironic thing about the whole thing is that even on this forum most people sleep on the westcoast.  The bay gets absolutely no luv, and if you and dpg/aftermath/deathrow related, than at least 50% of this forum won't even check you out.

I've made many many topics about dope westcoast acts, and at least 95% of this forum doesn't give a shit.  I've even upped many westcoast songs, for dudes to check out, but no one gives a shit.  It was really funny to see the thread about Dr. Dre producing a track for Mac Dre's latest album.  So many more people on this forum checked it out, just cuz they heard bout Dr. Dre producing a track for him.  What's really sad tho is that Khayree produced many many tracks for Mac Dre that are a million times better than that dr. dre track.

I think some of the bay area artists are great, but the last good album by Mac Dre was the Rompilation. That was a while ago.

I'll put it this way. When I saw the tracklisting for E-40's Breakin' News, I saw the name Rankin' Scroo. If it wasn't for the fact that I actually copped the album and liked the work he put in, I wouldn't give a rats ass what he has done.

From my perspective, I think west coast artists just need to say fuck this east/west shit and try to get some exposure on some east coast artists shit. That is the only way the west will come back. E-A-Ski knows that. That's why he's getting down with Kay Slay. Same thing with 40 and DJ Quik. It's not fair, but it's not like if you sit here complaining about it, the suits are just gonna be like "oh, maybe we should play Keak Da Sneak just because some guys in Oakland want us to." But I know what you are talking about because they only played Gangsta Nation for about a month up here in Minneapolis and they never played the second single. The way my friend puts it (excuse the slur), he says the west coast is too nigger. Again, BS. But the kid is way to in to his MTV and I'm sure that's how a lot of these other kids think.

he has eazily dropped better albums than rompilation, since it was released.  I don't know if you checked them out or not, I can't see how you would say they are crappy tho if u really have checked them.  Rapper Gone Bad is way better than Rompilation.
