They should do it live action, though, no animation. If they did it live action, people who aren't into video games would probably brush it off as another Lord of the Rings rip-off.

The first time I saw a Lord of The Rings trailor, I thought it was Zelda lol
This movie would have so much potential. The movie starts in a little village where this little boy is playing and you're introduced to his family, he's about 11. That night, he has a strange dream about a princess locked up being held captive, and wakes up to find his grandfather missing, and it pouring down the rain. He runs out into the darkness, and heads for the castle nearby... after hiding from the guards, he notices a tunnel off to the side, and a light coming from within. He hurries down, and finds his grandfather lying hurt on the ground, his grandfather gives him a sword, and tells him this story of where the sword came from, who he is, and of this evil wizard named Ganondorph... His grandfather dies, and young link drags the sword behind him on the cobblestone path, only to be discovered by a strange pig creature with a pitchfork looking weapon. The pig starts running at him, and Link, frightened, picks the sword up with both hands, and swings it frantically... the sword glows bright yellow and swings light as a feather in a perfect circle, striking the beast with a loud "skkkkaaaaatttttcccckkkkk"... the beast lets out a muffled scream, as his body vaporizes into a cloud of mist, and dirt, dust, and a small bag fall to the ground. Link opens the bag to find a shimmering red ruby, which he places in his pouch... frightened, he ducks in a back door, to find a huge bridge with another creature walking across, guarding it... mustering all his courage, he sneaks up behind the beast, kills it, stops to grab the green ruby left behind, and the hurries across the bridge. Once across the bridge, he finds a huge stone slab, which has been slid to one side... peeking through, he sees candlelight. He ducks through the crack, and finds himself standing in the back of a sanctuary, with an old priest standing near the pulpit, deep in thought. Blah ... Blah... Blah Blah Blah. This movie has HUGE potential.
