Mellow, I got a question. If you read this board im sure youve seen my rants about the greatness of Quik and how hes the GOAT producer. And im not gonna be all groupie like to you just cause you know dre. It seems like people act like theyve never talked shit about him before when they reply to your posts. I dont try and bring dre down. I like him alot but Im gonna be strait up with you. Quik will always be the better and more original producer to me. So my question is, Is Dre the greatest to you cause you see him work? If I knew Quik and Dre and I watched them produce an album I might think differently. But the battle of Quik vs Dre grows tired and I just wanna know what you think about it. What do you think about me and the other Quik-supporters on this board? Are these the kind of things that get you mad and log off?

well, I understand your post, and it's good to see you on the board again.  I agree with you about dre being a good man, etc. family man and all that, that's pretty apparent from interviews and stuff, but just a couple comments:

1. I think most people's talk on message boards is more braggadocio then they would be in real life.  In real life, they'd all be thrilled to meet dre, of course, and tell him how big of fans they are, even though their calling him 'a big headed nerd' online.

2. I think the Snoop thing is blown way out of proportion.  I get the sense, from what you say, and what I read of dre, that he holds grudges, and is pretty sensitive.  Here's how we understand what happened, and most people agree on this:

A. Jermaine dupri tells an interviewer, he thinks that his beats are better than anybody alives, even dre.  

B. Dre gets pissed off, him, em, and X all diss the hell out of little 5 foot 1 J.D, because of 1 comment.  that's all we know about.  Maybe J.D. said more, and none of us like J.D.! and we all like Dre, Em, and X.  BUT.  From my point of view, they kinda overreacted.  One, Eminem is a terror compared to J.D., j.d. will never see Em, or X.  Dre didn't have to resort to the childish disses he made on j.d.  .. He even inadvertantly dissed lil bow wow in part of that.  come on.  All because of 1 comment?  It's his opinion.  J.D. likes his own stuff better than dre's.  

C.  Snoop gets pissed.  He didn't diss dre, he didn't do crap.  All he said, that I heard, was that he thought it was wrong for them to jump on J.D., because he's a little guy (literally, and musically).  Snoop then questioned why Dre would diss J.D. over one little thing, that was a halfway wrong comment, excusable by most people, but Dre, Eminem, and X wanted (from my view, and I guess snoop's too) to show how much better than J.D. they were, so they dissed the hell out of him.  Then, snoop brings up the touchy subject... why diss jermaine, over something miniscule, but let Suge Knight publicly punk X, Dre, and Em, OVER AND OVER AGAIN, in public?  Maybeyou're right that it's dangerous to diss Suge, and I've had respect for Dre not dissing him till now... but then why diss J.D.? Doesn't Dre know that left him open to criticism, and went against everything Dre's said up until now?  He looks like the world's biggest hypocrite.  He looks like a bully, on some little guy, but won't step up to someone who's been talking trash for 6 years now.  

That's just how most of us see it.  I'm not calling Andre Young anything, I just question why Dre is doin this stuff.  

Other things we're wondering about:

3. Why is Dre not working with Snoop, Daz, Warren G, etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. ?  It's likehe's turning his back on them because they won't do everything he says or something?  Maybe we don't know what the hell's going on, and I reserve that option, but it just seems strange that Warren G's in magazines saying his own brother wouldn't appear on his album.  Kurupt?  Nate? Snoop? I know he's working with them a little bit, but man, how can he give busta rhymes all those songs, and only give Nate 1?  I'm confused.

4. It also seems like (to some of us) that Dre is in a creative slump.  Maybe his stuff is still the dopest on the streets, it probably is... but in my opinion, Quik, even Daz! and others are starting to be more creative than Dre.  I guess Dre's just sticking to a tried and true formula, and he's still the greatest around... .but I guess we just expect mind blowing everytime he drops something new, and lately we haven't been getting it.  

Again, I love dre, snoop, all these guys, but these are just the things going through an average fans mind.  Not criticising, and I know I could be totally wrong with all this, but this is what we're thinking.

i dont care about any of this bullshit no more.  But Xzibit claimed that if anyone fucks with Dre, Alcoholics or the D-o-double-G Snoop, he would fuck them up.  So fuck Xzibit, you cant be saying one thing, and different the next day.  He should have either ignored Suge or stood his ground.  Saying "I only make music with Snoop" was not a very good or intelligent thing to say becuase 1) he lost one of his close homies (Snoop) and 2) he made himself look like a bitch for not backing up his own words. If family comes first then thats fine with me but remember to practice what you preach.
