Ice Cube Explains To Shaquille O’Neal Why He Blocked His Collaboration With Dr. Dre

The track was titled, “That’s Gangsta," which addresses what Cube took issue with. He explained that O'Neal was "more than just gangsta" and a star of the Los Angeles Lakers at the time.

“Cube was executive producing one of my records,” Shaq said. “And he put me in the studio with Dr. Dre. I did a song called ‘That’s Gangsta.’ Cube heard it and was like, ‘Nope. We’re not releasing this.’ Dre did the beat. I thought it was nice … And then I played it for Cube … He was like, ‘Shaq, you’re a f*cking Laker, bro. I don’t want you talking about nothing gangsta. We not doing none of that sh*t.’ And it never came out.”

For those that haven't heard King-Tee's "Shake da Spot" track with Shaq on the hook... str8 rides. I know the album only got an official release in 2023 (I'm glad it did).. but to me.. back in '98 this would have been a dope a$$ hit! https://open.spotify.com/track/6trNmNlaaO87sEv7Ri1JH1?si=053f7550f2c449de

I really think Shaq had/has skills. What's dope as well is with Shannon (POS - in my opinion) Sharpe talking sh!t... it prompted Shaq to tell him to keep his name out his mouth! - Instagram post by Shaq:

Excerpt "so here’s some click bait for you. if you ain’t ranked in the top ten in your profession , then you can’t speak on Me. don’t forget i know what you did to get where you at. me jealous lol sounds like you jealous. i kno you tryna stay relevant by gossiping on your podcast. we don’t believe you. you need more people and in case you forgot. 4 rings three finals Mvp top 50 and top 75. google me."
