How Is This Mos Def Album Getting Good Reviews?

I gave up on it after three listens.  It's not a good album at all.  It don't think I've deleted an album this quick since Method Man's.

It has no direction at all.  You have a songs with horrible guitar riffs, then some shitty "soulful" singing songs, some songs over jacked beats (lol @ "Rape Over") and some other nonsense.  Outta 18 tracks, I might like 3 of them.

Just because it's different and "experimental" it shouldn't get a pass.  He tried to be creative and diifferent and he failed.  I think people don't wanna get a good MC like Mos Def failing marks for some reason.  It's painfull for me to listen a dope MC like Mos Def make this kind of garbage.

It isn't for rap only fans, and apparently it isn't for you. It's no masterpeice, but I like it. It shows creativity, and maturity (musically). More importantly, it sounds good, to me anyway.

Honestly this album is very experimental and it kinda failed

BUT the track Sunshine just makes this album for me    wish kanye could have done a shitload of songs for this

I heard Mos is doing some hip hop shit to make up for this album

both true.. cause some of the best albums ever made were expiremental.. and some really bad albums were expiremental..

You have to know Im a person that likes to provoke.. so sometimes you have to take my comments with a grain of salt.. like this time. All I wanted to say (if you subtract the provoke-factor) was that

(and yes i like the album, but i'm not surprised a lot of people don't...it is kinda chaotic and weird and he's not singer of the century...what i like is really the creativity and how it is not very predictable and different from most in rap AND the way it sounds itself...if u don't like the latter then u don't have to like it for being different, of course)

Its different and for what it is, what it does, it's good

Sunshine, Grown Man Business, My Life is Real, Champion Requiem

are all good tracks while others;

The Easy Spell, Modern Marvel, Sex, Love, and Money

are horrible dissapointments, I was really feelin his remix type thing of Marvin Gaye's "Whats Going On" after modern marvel.

this album is an experimental success, I'm really diggin it but when it gets bad its horrible and when its good it's great.

I gotta say I like Modern Marvel but only  in small doses it tends to turn me off for the moment thats why I dont like it, but it is orth the hidden trasck after it
