Pac's New Record
« on: November 16, 2004, 09:27:04 PM »
I noticed his new album is heavily influence by Eminem, like 8 tracks produced, and Shady/G-Unit.  I find this a little odd.  WHat do you guys feel?

WHat happened to Pac's situation on Death Row?  Did Afeni take full control now of his songs?

I think that Afeni should of tried to reach out to more of 2pac's friends to work on this album, but I'm glad to see she has DJ Quik and Raphael Saadiq working on it. I don't know why G-Unit and Obie Trice have to be on it.

It's obviously an attempt by Afeni to make more money off of it by grabbing the hands down hottest artists around.  The fact that Eminem is a capable producer helps matters for her, and everything that's ever been released on Shady sold pretty well.  She probably had some problems with the last few albums not selling much, Deathrow even released a Tupac Live CD this year, I dunno if anybody's seen that or not, it looked wack as hell, and was in Wal-Mart.  So, to Afeni, the biggest selling rappers around are all signed to one label, they all want to be involved with the album, and Eminem, the biggest of them all, has the ability to produce most of the album personally.  It's a Win Win Win situation for all involved.

It'll be interesting to see if Afeni makes Em and Co. spin Tupac's verses like she did on the last few albums... it's like she's dead set to make Pac out to be an angel, so she's had disses removed, etc.

Agreed.

Since hip-hop is dead anyway, the only thing still breathing life into the listener is nostalgia.  So best case scenario, they should have put the Outlaws and other rappers Pac made music with when he was alive.  I don't have a problem with Eminem producing, mixing and overseeing the project, Afeni's reasons for that were simple; Eminem is one of the best and greatest.  Even though Eminem has now fallen off as an artist, he may still have some juice left as a producer.  But really everybody is wack these days, cause hip-hop has died.  Really the illest thing we can do is listen to old music, and since 2pac died before the decline of hip-hop, his album may end up being the dopest album of the year.
