MUSIC HEADS GET IN HERE!!! lol
« on: November 18, 2004, 12:53:52 AM »
hey, well heres the deal, im kinda looking to get into some new music because it seems like i always listen to the same stuff over and over again... i have a pretty open mind toward music and i was wondering if any of u guys have something chill to listen to.. i love rock (pink floyd, led zepplin, nirvana, jimi hendrix, the doors, guns n roses, NOFX, AFI, etc.) and i like rap too...  i love music with meaningful lyrics so im not really  into lil john and all that shit... i was also wondering if u guys know of something thats a cross between jazz and rock or some interesting rap..any suggestions would be appreciated... thanks

then for (non-punk) rock stuff:

Declaime
Little Brother
Cunninlynguists
Murs
Atmosphere

If you want a jazz/rock thing Steely Dan is good for that. Meaningful lyrics; CSNY, Niel Young, Springsteen, and Bob Dylan.

Check out Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jimmie Vaughan, Peter Frampton, Queen, BB King, Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker, Buddy Guy, etc....

Most hip-hop is now keyboard driven, because the majority of hip-hop workstations have loops and patches that enable somebody with marginal skills to put tracks together,...

Unfortunately, most hip-hop artists gravitated towards the path of least resistance by relying on these pre-set patches. As a result, electric guitar and real musicians became devalued, and a lot of hip-hop now sounds the same.
