THE DOC!
« on: November 26, 2004, 01:22:56 PM »
alright. I have a friend who's a really talented drummer. He's set to work with the DOC. And he said he's gon bring me along.

As far as I know. Doc is a legend in gangsta rap. etc. so i'm mad excited to see this cat.

Any of y'all got any info on him? pics? umm fav songs? I can't find his stuff in TOronto. I bought Heltah Skelta that's all i could find.

Any good questions for him too? that i could ask him nonchalantly.

No One Can Do It Better is my favourite mainstream album ever probably, well gangsta wise. Heltah Skeltah I think is kind of shitty.

Your lucky to be meeting him though man, hope you enjoy his company :)

fav songs...  Its Funky Enough, Let The Bass Go, Lend me an Ear, and The Formula.. but his first album is all classic 100%.

I'm in Toronto too, his stuff is tough to find around here, you have to get his debut album though, No One Can Do It Better, I got it about 4 years ago, it's one of the best rap albums i've ever heard.  He also came out with Deuce last year which showcases his protege 62.  You could probably get both from hmv.ca, but www.cheap-cds.com would probably be cheaper, but takes longer to get here.

I love the whole album (No One Can Do It Better) especially The Formula. He was Snoops mentor, lyric wise during the making of The Chronic.

Too bad he cant yell and speak loud, he would of been one of the greatest or maybe he would of been a sell out-wack ass like snoop

Yeah, its defiently a shame too see a talanted rapper like him loose his voice, but i think  The DOC would of took the same path as Snoop. So maybe its better that he doesnt do rap albums anymore(he still writes for people though) so his legacy woudnt be runined.

technically he was more talented than snoop, and knew more, so there'd be less of a chance of him taking snoop's path..  but its still good he stopped I guess..

Damn, I'm bumping the D.O.C. right now... definately one of my favorites.  I always feel real sorry for the dude because he could have blown up real big and definately been a superstar -- I don't think that he would have "sold out."

Anyway, No One Can Do It Better is definately the one to get... the D.O.C.'s also on a couple N.W.A. albums... there's "Parental Disretion Iz Advised" offa "Straight Outta Compton", and he's also on a bunch of tracks on "N.W.A. and the Posse."

No One Can Do It Better was the shit. I bought that album used a few years back and DOC's talent blew me away. I wonder how far he could have gone had that accident not happened. He wrote most of the chronic so his legacy lived on in other ways.

I must ask...how the hell did you get in to Death Row's vaults? That shit has been locked up in there since he made it and never left.

DOC was poised to become one of hip-hop's biggest superstars before that car wreck crushed his larynx.  He could ride those fast beats and still enunciate every syllable.  Now he raps like Clearance "Frogman" Henry, except he's not meaning to be funny.

I noticed yesterday that the beat Dre did for "Guerilla Pimpin" off of the "Deuce" album sounds real damn close to the beat for "No One Can Do It Better" (the song)... "Deuce" wasn't all that bad.
