Greatest Fighting game of all time?

I voted for Street Fighter 2 and Mortal Kombat 2, I think SF shades it, but I spent so much time playing both of them when I was younger, that to vote for one over the other would have been unfair, because they were both classic games. I really need to pick up a second hand SNES or Megadrive, and get these games again.

yeah it probably is... the japan version was released quite some time ago.  people in the US have to wait until february to get ahold of it.  unless of course you're downloading it...

yeah...some of younger peps cant really comprehend how big sf2, sf2ce and sf2tce in the arcades back in the day, but i can remember it was the thing to do on friday and satuday nights...and how crazy some of the crowds where ...and for about a good year EVERY gaming magazine had some feature whether new stratagies or whatever

i was never really into street fighter. i i played it, but not as much as mortal kombat. and when killer instinct came out in the arcades that was prob my fav of them all.i remember owning ppl with the werewolf doin like 50 hit combos. think they made a sequel too if i remember correctly that was better.

i remember hanging out in the americana lanes waiting on line for like 10 minutes to play sf2 an than when i got the play i always go my assed kicked lol.  It waited for 10 minuetes for 60 seconds of play.  Than i would go back an the cycle would continue.

I remember when Mortal Kombat came out, the line for Street Fighter was soo long to play, so I just was like... fuck it I'll play this since no one was around. The next week, the line for Mortal Kombat was just as long. That was my earliest memories of the SF vs. MK.

Now, I used to think, nothing would ever beat Street Fighter II as my favorite game, until I played Street Fighter Alpha 3 at college. My memories of all my arcade battles, winning and losing, all were erased by the memories of me staying up late at night just beating the shit outta people. So well Street Fighter II in the arcade was the best, Street Fighter Alpha 3 I just whipped the shit outta people, so I have to go with that.

SF2 gets my vote. I liked Marvel vs Capcom 2 better than any fighter, and it owes its roots to sf2 obviously.

i wasted so much of my life playing SF2 and MK2 & 3.. memorised the moves for every character, but it was fun

Street Fighter 2 was my shit back in the day, then Street Fighter 2 Turbo was dope and Killer Instinct was crazy dope aswell.

MK was aight, i didn't know any of those finishers tho (apart from knockin' 'em onto the spikes) and some of my boys did so i stuck to SF and then KI when it dropped, fuck getting whipped and turnt into a baby.
