The Deathrow Days Of The 'West Coast News Network'
« on: December 05, 2004, 02:32:47 AM »
Before Dubcnn...before Dubcc...before Aftermath Music...before Thug Poetry...before DJ Quik.net...before Cali Rap...before Warren G-Funk Online...before MC Eight.tk... and during the birth of Westcoast 2k and the death of Snoop's Dogghouse there was...

WC Killaz
...
2real
...
G-Funk Era
...
WC Rydaz
...
Westcoast Aftershock
...

& me
...
Snoop's Doggpound

it was about 5 years ago...yes, five years.

It was the year 2000, I was still in high school. In fact Dre's 2001 album had just released and tha eastsidaz first album was about to drop... it was the second coming of westcoast rap. It lasted only two short years, you could argue even shorter. However, during that time there was a group of kids, like me, who not only loved westcoast rap, but loved where it was, where it was going and where it had been. This is my story, the story of Snoop's Doggpound and the story of everyone who took party in the revolultion. Without it, there would be no Dubcnn, no Dubcc, no nothing. Read on.

I spent my whole summer learning how to make a damn web page. My whole summer. When I finally had it down (at least what I thought was down) I needed to make a site that had a subject. It was my personal page to Snoop Dogg. Just a small site, that I created, had some photos of him, a little bio I stole from another snoop site and a little link to email me... very simple, very boring, nothing at all. However, in my search I came across another website surrounded by Snoop. Snoop's Dogghouse.

There I was reading up to date news on this guy. Everyday was something new. Hmm, pretty cool site, nice layout, cool design, awesome news, and damn, new snoop songs like every week. I used the instant messenger ICQ and came across a dude by the name of dYnamic...he was doing what I was doing, making a snoop fan site. Both of our sites were nothing compared to Snoop's Dogghouse. That site was king. The dr dre of Snoop sites. Strangely enough, we both lived in Wisconsin. Kinda cool. Honestly, it was the first time I ever instant messaged someone in my life. As time went on, I jacked all the dogghouse's news for my site... i was a rip off artist at it's best, but oddly, over time, people would email me thinking I knew Snoop Dogg. How did people even find my site? Very weird. But slowly I started figuring this information thing was easy, go to some news site, search for Snoop Dogg, and bam, new news... so thats where they got their news. But what I didn't have was their music. They had official unreleased music I had never heard... they still had me beat. But then, one day, there was no update on their site...or the next day...or the next day... slowly tha dogghouse was becoming empty... no more music, nothing... and slowly, their visitors became my visitors... and thats where the real story began.

One day, some weird dude posted on my Yahoo Snoop club about his dumb westcoast rap site... his name

Lil Jermaine ... hahaha, wow

I went to his site and damn, it was the wackest, most crap layout I had ever seen. However, his info was top notch. The site just looked like my toilet paper after I wiped. Pure comedy. But jermaine became cool, we talked, did the whole IM thing for a long time. He got news, I got news... it was like this little partnership between two big companies. He got my visitors, I got his. Slowly things started turning big. He knew this dude named Bplease ... who ran this site with this other dude named Trauma. The site, WC Killaz. Like westcoast 2k, just more underground at the time. They had a red and black layout, haha funny to think back. Then there was this site called 2real ... I think that's what I was... to me, it was always a shady site, like for scam artists... cool design, but the content always seemed rip offed.

Then one day, on my site board, I met this guy named Teecee, and another guy named Moses, and another guy named Wesley Snipez. Three cool duded who posted occasionaly. It was cool. I had started something. I had started a small community among snoop fans. Lil Jermaine and Bplease had the same thing going for their sites, so one day... Bplease asked me

What if we combined our boards?

damn, I remember that day, it was a tough decision. My members didn't want to be a part of another board but mine...but I agreed and from there, it came official...

the birth of Dubcc ... yet it was westcoast connection if i remembered correctly...

thats where I met assholes like

Nima, Overseer, Rud, Sikotic, Westcoast Veteran, Now I Know, Axle Fohley, BigJakeDoggyDogg, Maxi Padz, Jaymastajay

I know I'm missing names, I'll never be good If I win an Oscar...

but there those people I hated

aka

Nino Brown
JohnyTanna

i hated them... all the european people liked them though... not me

that was the beginning... that was our doggystyle, and the momentum rode for a while.

However over time, I found maintaining a site hard to do for me. I didn't have the time and I just wasn't in it anymore. The same was felt from Bplease and Trauma. I soon left the site to go, just like my favorite site, Snoop's Dogghouse. That was that, my run had ended, as did wc killaz and slowly, our doggfather days hit us. So yes, a story of rise and fall. It's awesome how we all came together and continue to grow.

Really, it was a bunch of individuals who were doing their own thing and just happened to step on each other.

I'm missing a lot. for example, a lot of folks came from the Dre board.. I was never a part of that board, so leave that story to someone else...

but I'm done

this has left me to one little surprise and hopeful project

For old time sakes I've uploaded my old snoop site, but just the discography section. To date it's still the most accurate discography of the dogg. Most of the work was done by Snoop's Dogghouse, but I updated it every time a new snoop song released.

I have hopes that with the help of the board we can continue to make it up to date. We have 4 years to make up on it.

There are just simple rules to it...

1. Only songs that are retailed can be on this discography
2. No unreleased songs
3. No radio premieres

if you can buy a cd with the song on it, then it goes on the discography...

this is a hopeful idea, and i hope it can go through. so post any comments on the story and feel free to list songs on the board.

Remember, a release date is helpful

here's the page

it was called West Coast Affiliates forum.. after that big fight b-please had wit me and I got kicked out of the affiliates (wow i was so depressed.. boo hooo.. lol).. YOU came up with the name West Coast Connection when we were looking for a name.. i later changed it to DUBCC after i invented the name DUBCNN for the news spin off

Why did you hate me when you hardly knew me? I remember:

The same reason everyone disses me. Because I never sent you MP3's. . . ::)

The real websites that started this whole thing were:

The true "OG's" I would say were, NWA2K, Chronic Overload, my boy KrazyQBan's shit (NoSeeds.net was going to be KrazyQban & Nino Brown in 99), Playa P's Death Row Records Site (inc Matty Jory's DR Newz), G-Locc's Death Row News, DRHQ, DEATHROW2K (I tried to get KPac back in couple of years ago), Snoopsdogghouse (ran by G Litt from hiphopspot.com), O2Deathrow, Westside2Real, Hitemup. . .

Then you had the audio sites who started posting mp3s: TheShiznit.cjb.net, Tha Thug Pound (Which was Lil Jay's original WC2K)

Also the West Coast Affiliates (this forum, DPGC2000.net, Westcoastaftershock, Westcoast2k, WCKillaz, Snoops Dogg Pound, The Shiznit), G Funk Era. . .

Later on came. . . . Tha Rap Scene, TooGangsta.net, 2Untouchable, WCRydaz, Rapindustry, DUBCNN, Streetflop.com etc

you sure about Qban's noseeds.net being 99? i remember it was 2000 when he left the other site he was working on.. maybe im wrong but im pretty sure. anyways yeah those were good times when snoopsdogghouse was like the first fan site i ever visited when i seen all the audio they had... i couldnt believe it.. then i met alex aka dpgc2k and was with his site til the end. i met a lot of kool people (and talked a lot of shit to not so kool people) along the way. it was crazy how much id go to everyones sites everyday to see what they had to say. shit the time spent on the net sure helped me keep my dumb ass out of jail lol but its all good anyways im rambling, peace to everyone i got much respect for yall. and thanx seer for holding this place down.

yeah it was 2K... coz in 1999 dre's album came out, in 2K Chronic Overload opened.. and was hacked.. and NoSeeds started directly after (qban was the designer for CO).. at the very start of 2001 this board opened.. and noseeds was long dead by then

i still dunno who "the_real_narrator" was.. people keep accusing me.. but u already know my alter ego at the time.. Overseer ;)

and no probs ;)  i'm lucky i can use this shit while i'm at work.. so at least 8 hours / 5 days a week I can keep tabs on this place

Yeah QBan did NoSeeds.net in 2000, my bad. but we talked about doing a site around Xmas 99. He designed it and everything, but it just didnt happen. I liked that guy a lot, even though everyone hated on him. What happened to him? Didnt he start DJing? I havent spoken with Qban in about 4 years. . .

Snoopsdogghouse did have a lot of "Rare" Death Row / Snoop songs, but that was G Litt's site. She's a straight up hater and a bitch! She owns Deathrowrecords.com and Hiphopspot.com the bootleg sites. My boy Jonny Tanna has known her for years and doesnt have anything bad to say about her, I knew her back in the day, you dont want issues with her. She's an "Undercover hater".

Alex aka Dpgc2k stayed at Jonny's (DeathRowEntertainment) place when he came to London in 2003. I was supposed to go up and meet him.
