I think by reading just the album of the year contenders you could see that the grammies have lost any credibility they may have once had. Just cause Ray Charles died, doesn't cover up the fact that the album he released this year is probably one of his worst efforts, Green Day's album was just their normal sound, but with some political issues thrown in, Usher's was average at best, and even Alicia and Kanye's albums weren't amazing. Is there really nothing better this year?

And I know Trauma is gonna be annoyed at Brian Wilson not even getting nominated for best album.

yeah, the imo the Grammys only really reward those artists who are commercially successful...not necessarily who dropped the best music...

Yeah definitely. But I don't see any point in an award show that praises people being commercially successful, when thats what all the stupid MTV, Billboard, and various other sales and fan vote based award ceremonies do.

When did the Grammy's ever have any credibility? The Grammys have a history of picking the wrong this and wrong that. I can't think of too many albums that  won and deserved to win. There are a few, but only a few.

Oh well.  SMiLE > all nominated albums this year.

Wilson did get a couple nods though. SMiLE got one for best pop vocal album, and Ms O'Leary's Cow got best pop instrumental.

I love how Springsteen doesn't release anything this year or last year and he wins a grammy last year, and gets nominated this year for best rock solo vocal. All he released this year was an Essential greatest hits album, that contained a bonus disc of unreleased songs and one of the songs got nominated. I think they're still saying sorry for screwing him over two tears ago with the Rising. I still can't belive Norah Jones won. Stupid marketing ploys. They were just trying to attract the older listener, probably because they don't download as much. Well it didn't work, because contemporary Jazz still isn't selling shit.

I think unfortunately there's only room for one 'sentimental favorite' album on the album of the year category, and they want to give Brother Ray a tip of the hat.  I can understand that, but anybody with ears knows SMiLE is 10 times the record "Genius Loves Company" is.  Ray Charles was an incredible musician, it's a shame they're honoring some of his worst work, EVER.  Honestly, you could take any Ray Charles album and hold it up to that one, and it's at the bottom of the list every time.

"Best Pop Vocal " is a fitting category for Brian, actually, damn, isn't that what he's all about? Pop music, and Vocals.  Vocal harmonies, vocal arrangments, he's got one of the best voices ever recorded, the album is nearly perfectly sung... but again I imagine he will lose to Brother Ray.

I don't see anybody else winning the best engineering award, though, besides Mark Linnett, and I don't see anybody winning best instrumental, besides Brian.  "Ms. O'Leary's Cow" is pretty intense.
