because irc is truely peer 2 peer when u download stuff..

whereas with something like emule they can download back off of you.. or set up a sting where you download from them..

i know people who have had messages from movie companies and microsoft for getting stuff from Emule.

ive had about 5 or so emails from the MPAA and BSA (business software alliance) for downloading shit off eMule and BitTorrent. the emails are just warnings, nothin more at the moment
