Greatest QB's of All Time?
« on: February 07, 2005, 12:18:39 PM »
Since the the NFL season is over...everyone is 0-0 agian hehe.

People gotta realise something...There are quarterbacks that are great QB's..then there  are "'snap-takers' acting out the orders of sideline brain trusts." (also known as Tom-Brady-like-QB  ;D)

1. Bart Starr - It's difficult for today's fans to appreciate the hardship quarterbacks faced trying to put together an offensive attack on sheets of ice or frozen slush. Many of Starr's great performances came under conditions so horrendous that other fine passers were completely nullified. Starr led his respective Packer team to six division, five NFL and two Super Bowl titles. Starr finished his career throwing nearly 2,000 fewer passes than his great rival, Johnny Unitas, for just 24,718 yards to Unitas's 40,234 (their career yards per pass average was identical, 7.8)

2. Johnny Unitas - Unitas lead the Colts to 1958 and 1959 NFL crowns and was named All-NFL for five seasons including three Player of the Year awards. Unitas also picked up three MVP trophies as well as 10 Pro Bowl selections. Overall, Unitas finished his career with 40,239 passing yards, 290 touchdown passes, and 2,830 competitions.

3. Joe Montana - Throughout his career, Montana led his teams to 11 playoff appearances, nine divisional championships and victories in Super Bowls XVI, XIX, XXIII, and XXIV. His spectacular play in the Super Bowl games led to MVP trophies in three of the 49ers Super Bowl wins.

4. John Elway - A man who could be very simply known as the king of comeback, ended his storied career in 1998 by going on top. His MVP performance in Super Bowl XXXIV capped back-to-back Super Bowls from the quarterback from Stanford and stamped his stature as one of the game's greats. Through a storied 15-year career, Elway is second in all-time total offense leaders in NFL history with 59,006 total yards, third in touchdowns with 417, and has a NFL record 40 come from behind victories in the fourth quarter for wins.

5. Brett Favre - Now, if Brett Favre chooses to keep playing football, it won't be much longer before he makes a serious run at all of Dan Marino's passing records. After a stellar 2004 season, Favre has moved into either second or third place in almost every major passing category. Favre is also 83-19 lifetime at home, for an .814 winning percentage. Pittsburgh's Terry Bradshaw is first (.848), followed by Dallas' Roger Staubach (.831). With two MVP's and one Super Bowl ring, Favre is one of the greatest of all time.

I can make an argument why Favre should be 4 or 3...But don't feel like it..btw..i didn't write none of the junk up there ^^ i just copied and pasted career stats and stuff.

I got Bradshaw at #6 and Aikman at #7...AIkman had a fuckin great team

It's hard to say that when New England has a better defense than offense. I'd like to see Brady on the Colts or Bills.

Elway is the Greatest
But Marino is a very close second. No QB has better stats than Marino, no QB had a better release than Marino. The only reason he doesn't get the respect is because the rest of his team wasn't good enough. He carried them to the playoffs ever year juts like Elway did with the Broncos.
