Alot of people forget that Diddy produced and introduced the greatest rapper of all time.........

???   why do people think biggle's the G.O.A.T? the guy is one of the most overrated rappers of all time(along with pac...although he is my fav)...theres tons of other rappers that are way better then him...so what makes him special?

Nah, Charisma and Creativity.  Flow, and Character.  Biggie had an incredible presence (Big Fat Black Guy Who Looked Dangerous), an incredible Flow (Prob. the best I've heard), was creative (he basically started the style many many many have bit since), and was Charismatic.  You thought he was cool.

Simple as that, G.O.A.T.

Greatest Of All Time...

Did u not read all of the thread?

Alot of people forget that Diddy produced and introduced the greatest rapper of all time.........imo to see Dre and Diddy hook up would be great. 2 legends in the studio at the same time.

If Diddy came wit some hard beats like old days and then add Dre perfection you cant deny that would be a hit.

Greatest of all time??? That's a big statement. But is no denying BIG had talent.

No producer that I know hasn't had help in their career, at any stage. Comparing Dre to Puffy is no comparison, imo...as far as the list of names above, how successful have those dudes been ( as producers ) without Dre working with them, with the exception of Scott Storch. Mike Elizondo has been working with Dre since '97, so he's a crucial part of Dre's production to this day. Hell, Dre gives him co-producer credit, nowadays. Sam Sneed helped Dre on only 2 beats, both were classics, but Sam Sneed never reached those heights on his own since then, which is a shame, cuz I got hella love for Sam Sneed. Daz & Warren G helped shape the sound of "The Chronic" and "Doggystyle", but it's been stated time and time again by people in the know, that Dre was the MAIN head of the direction. Every producer has musicians, creative people assisting with ideas and co-producers. J-Flexx was never Dre's partner as far as beats went, he just wrote for Dre at one point.

Exactly, man. Took the words out of my mouth.

other than the Mary J. Blige "Love & Life" album that Puff Exec. produced...I would say no.  To my knowledge they have never been in the studio together, but I know that Puff respects Dre.  I don't know if Dre feels the same though

If you check album credits for Biggie's albums, you'll see what I mean. Usually, it's the musicians are credited first, then Puffy. In Dre's credits, it states "Produced by Dr. Dre" before anything. And it's confirmed that Dre plays instruments, has anyone confirmed that Puffy does the same?

It's also confirmed that Dre uses ghost producers.  :-X

To my knowledge, Dre has plenty of respect for Puffy.  When Dre was beating his head against the wall at Aftermath trying to make hits when he first got there, i remember reading an interview saying something along the lines of, " Puff, he did that Benjamins record, man, i had that record and didn't think to sample that shit, hearing that song inspired me to get going again and make some real hits, get creative...."

So, i think Dre has respect for Diddy.  And no, i cannot think of one song Diddy did all by himself, but all i know is the man is responsible for incredible records, track record speacks for itself.  He surrounded himself with a lot of talent (much like Dre, although Dre is definitely more hands on and a better producer/mixer) and took what these producers had to a higher level.

It's the little things that make songs great, believe that.  The way Diddy or Dre can take the same sample as someone else and make it 10 times the song is proof.  Refer to Pac's Lie To kick it produced by Warren G (same beat as Gz and Hustlas) for example; Dre takes shit to the next level, or at least he used to.  And who can argue against Life after Death or Ready to Die? Biggie was a street cat, no concept of making a song, he said it himself that Puffy taught him how to craft a song, they made some amazing songs together.  ANd NO way out was a wonderfully produced album too, although most of you likely hate on that album....

Not entirely impressed with either of these cats nowadays (Dre was dope on Game's album, Diddy on the other hand..........), although i am definiteyl anticipating their respective albums.

I think many of us started out in rap thinking the producer did everything on a track, and we lost a lot of respect when we realized they didn't even play instruments in some cases.  But in the end, the final product is what i think is most important.  Diddy has a proven track record, how could you not respect him?

Puffy's a good producer, but his biggest hits can barely be called sampling... it's basically the original songs with more drums (i.e. I'll Be Missing You)
